Samraga- The Festival of Indian Classical Music
Beat of a Drum presents Samraga- the Festival of Indian Classical Music. In its third year, it will be hosted to promote the classical music tradition among the wider music audience. The experience of listening to Indian classical music in an environment that allows interaction, Q&A with the artist is the USP of this music festival.
Beat of a Drum’s aim is to host and promote classical and experimental music events which have a strong interactive and collaborative theme. The idea is to achieve this by bringing together artists from different style and genre. These events are often followed by educational, creative and interactive workshops with institutions and corporate. The workshops have an experimental feel with innovative ideas, such as combining music & theater, music & mathematics, music & design, music & therapy, music & management and so forth. Beat of a Drum believes that to save and promote the identity and richness of the classical art forms.
The Director of the company, Hiren Chate, has a vision of getting into the minds of young people and helps them understand the tradition & culture of classical music. This festival will be a regular annual feature and the company aims to make it a 4-day festival in the future. Workshops, interactions and jam sessions will also be introduced shortly. This will be done to help students of music in the city of Ahmedabad to have a unique opportunity to spend time and learn from the elite musicians of our longstanding musical tradition.
This year Ustad Zakir Hussain headline the festival and enchant everyone with their talent, also featuring Pandit Yogesh Samsi, Ustad Taufiq Qureshi, Tanmay Deochake, Pandit Kushal Das, Takahiro Arai and Hiren Chate.
