An 81-year-old man was admitted to the ER with acute lower abdominal pain and re**al bleeding which was suspected to originate from known hemorrhoids.
At ER, biochemical exams revealed elevated lactate (4.2 mmol/l). Re**al examination showed hemorrhoids (third- or fourth-degree), but no bleeding.
Diagnosis: Pseudomembranous colitis (PMC).
