When the bride and groom asked for a rustic setting with vines and overhead lights, somewhere a little different, we showed her this vineyard on a hill in the Veneto countryside. It was exactly what they had envisioned and planning got underway to create this charming and rustic setting. The added bonus was when the moon rose, the valley below lit up with twinkly lights, creating a magical atmosphere that was complemented by the stars above.

When I was a teenager I attended a salesian school and it was there that I met Sister Cecilia, who started a program called Summer English in Italy and who was responsible for introducing me to my adopted country. We would be sent off to the in Sorrento and stay in their magnificent convent. I have many magical memories of summers spent in the cool of their terrace looking over the Sorrento coast. This little part of the Sorrento coast has extra special meaning for me and I am transported back to those happy days whenever I visit.

So it is with great pleasure to present Villa Astor a magnificent cliffside property that overlooks the Bay of Naples. Traditionally, wedding speeches take place after dinner, with the father of the bride occasionally giving his speech before the meal. The speeches are considered as one of the highlights of the wedding reception and are something to look forward to. Therefore, having them after the meal is a good way to build up anticipation. However, another option is to have the speeches at the beginning of the meal. This way, it can be a great way to welcome guests to the meal and for those who may be nervous about giving their speech, it means they can relax and enjoy their meal afterwards.

I’m back in the office this morning looking back on this magical 40th birthday. Hosted in the stunning where the staff took wonderful care of everyone, beautifully dressed with flowers by and his wonderful assistant . Lights and Dj were taken care of by who as always was a pleasure to work with. Entertainment was provided by Trio caruso who were spectacular. It was a great team and a lot of fun to create 3 totally different days and nights!

Top tip when planning your wedding

The Ceremony

1. Walk super slow down the aisle! You might feel strange but to others you will look amazing!

2. Hold your bouquet at your bellybutton and facing out

3. Get to know your celebrant, this is the person who's going to lead you through the emotional commitment you're making, so it's crucial they're someone whom you're completely comfortable with.

4. Hold your kiss! Your photographer will thank you for this!

5. During the recessional, stop half way down the aisle for a 'dip & kiss' moment. You wont regret it when you see your photos!

Top tip when planning your wedding in Italy:

Italians... Engage a wedding planner!

I have lived here for almost 30 years and I love it. I understand the way things work here and I know my suppliers are fantastic! Whilst I know Italians, my couples often don't. Italy is not NYC where you would get contracts or even the menu by return, it is still a country that works upon your word and where deals are done over a coffee. The best part is the weddings are beautiful and exceed your dreams making it totally worth it! Having a wedding planner on the ground, who through strong relationships with suppliers has formed the bond of trust and knows that everything will be perfect, means you can relax and that is priceless!

Top tip for planning your wedding in Italy:

Budget-

At the start of your wedding planning journey, take a forensic look at your finances, have a ball park figure to stay inside and then work from there.

If you can only afford to invite 100 guests, then don't be tempted to invite 180 thinking 80 wont come... It will be then that all 180 say yes!

Talk to your planner about how to create that perfect look, but in ways that don't break your budget.

Remember if you have a venue that does not have a plan B, there is a risk you will need a marquee, so have a little in reserve for the unknown.

Top tip for planning your wedding in Italy:

I know it sounds cut throat but split the guests you would like to invite in to sections. The first group are in the A list, they are your family and best friends, the B list are your extended family, work friends and your outer circle of friends. The C list are the people you feel you should invite but are on the fence about.

Send out the invites to the first group and wait for the RSVP's to arrive. As you receive the 'not attending' replies you can send out from the B list and so on.

This way you don't invite 200 guests and then struggle with your budget or to stay inside the capacity of your venue!

A bride asked me today for my top tips of wedding planning. So over the next few posts, I am going to share them with you here on FB, in no particular order!

Do not scrimp on the Photographer!

Photography is one of the most important investments for your wedding day. Go with the very best and remember to make time for your photos.

Listen to your wedding planner when planning your day, they will guide you as to the best way to get all of those important photos and will make sure there is time for you and your photographer at the magic light time.

Have all the details ready to be photographed. Your accessories, rings, stationary and make sure your photographer knows how to play with them so they are captured forever.
