We are making good progress with our plans for our liberation exhibition. We have some very unusual items and we are still on the look out for memorabilia that helps tell the story of the occupation.

We would love to hear from anyone who may still have items of interest or photos / letters from or linked to the occupation.

We are hosting a special VIP supper to celebrate Liberation on 9th May and need your help to reach the right people.

Do you know someone with a strong connection to St. John during the Occupation?

We’re looking for individuals who:
🌟 Lived in St. John during the Occupation
🌟 Now live in St. John but were elsewhere during the Occupation
🌟 Were evacuated from St. John during the Occupation
🌟 Represent a family member with ties to the parish from that time

If this sounds like someone you know, please encourage them to get in touch with us or contact the parish hall if you would like to recommend someone yourself.
Attendees will be invited to this special supper hosted by the parish with a plus one. If transport is a concern, we’re happy to help.

A massive thank you to everyone who came along to the first Lib 80 drop in event tonight. It was fantastic to hear your ideas and to start gathering names of volunteers.

If you want to get involved but couldn’t make the event call the parish hall on 861 999 or email [email protected] and we will add you to the list of volunteers.

We will be reaching to volunteers once we have timings agreed and will be communicating all the plans for our Lib80 celebrations on this page and in the parish magazine.

Check your letterbox as we are delivering our first liberation 80 flyer across the parish this week. We are excited plans are starting to come together but there is still loads to do so if you would like to get involved come along to the drop in evening from 6pm on 30th Jan or if you can’t make the meeting give us a call or send us an email. We are after all kinds of help from cake donations to putting up bunting and any time you can spare is very much appreciated.

🌟 Join Us in Celebrating Liberation 80! 🌟

This year, St John is celebrating Liberation 80 with a series of exciting events for all ages. From a family fun day to a commemorative service, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as we honour our shared history and community spirit.

We’re looking for volunteers to help bring these events to life! If you’re interested in getting involved, come along to our drop-in session on Thursday 30th January at 6:00 PM at the Parish Hall. Enjoy hot drinks, cake, and share your ideas on how to make these events even better.

Join us for a special service at the church as we recreate the events of 9th May 1945 and come together to celebrate liberation.

🌟 The service will be followed by a flag-raising ceremony, and everyone is welcome to attend either or both parts of this meaningful celebration.
