【Festive Meals】

In Japan, celebrating occasions often involves symbolic dishes such as

1. "Osekihan" (red rice)

Osekihan, made with mochi (sticky) rice and red adzuki beans, represents joy and good fortune due to its auspicious RED color. It is a staple in celebrations, symbolizing prosperity and happiness.

2. "Tai no O(tail) Kashira (head) Yaki "

The grilled sea bream with head and tail, is considered a delicacy with cultural significance and often used in celebratory dishes.

The word "tai" sounds like "medetai," meaning auspicious or joyous. Eating this dish signifies a wish for happiness and success in the future. The head is chosen because it is seen as the most precious and flavorful part of the fish.

Both dishes are deeply rooted in Japanese traditions, embodying the cultural emphasis on symbolism and meaningful rituals during celebrations. Sharing these foods on wedding occasions is a way to express good wishes for the individual or event being honored.

【Sake in Ceremony】

In some shrines and temples, using sake in ceremonies is a traditional practice.
The incorporation of sake in specific sacred events varies based on the region and sect.

Sake is considered an offering to the sacred ceremony, symbolizing respect and gratitude to the gods or Buddhas.
This act is seen as a means to seek blessings from the divine entities.

Also,
Sake is seen as a symbolic representation of the union between the bride and groom and a blessing for their happiness.

In Japan, we relatively get few requests from Japanese brides and grooms.
But this couple requested us because the groom had lived abroad and they wanted to do their wedding, not an "all-inclusive type" typical Japanese style wedding.
They dream of having an intimate, more flexible style like an overseas couple.
KAMAKURA is like a little KYOTO, a historic area with many authentic Japanese cultures and a unique ancient Japanese atmosphere close to Tokyo.
The groom grew up in Kamakura and hopes to have a once-in-a-lifetime event with his beloved wife.
