I went to a party last night where Shakta was playing!

Shakta is actually Seb Taylor, who is also known for his super popular downtempo/chillout project, Kaya Project. Back when I was a label DJ for Interchill Records, Kaya Project released the legendary album Walking Through on the label. And now that I’m DJing old-school Goa, I feel a special connection to his music.

Shakta’s live set was insane—a bunch of young Israelis going absolutely wild! Even after 30 years, his tracks are still making us dance. Respect!

The dancefloor was packed till the very end. I can’t deny I’ve entered my "auntie era" a bit, so I was dancing on the side of the DJ booth. But this stage, man—it was shaking like crazy with every step!

When the DJ booth shakes, it can mess with the sound, so DJs naturally develop a way of dancing without stomping too hard. Full-power dancing without creating vibrations—that’s the trick. Industry folks who visit DJ booths often probably know how to do it too.

But the young Goa crowd? Nope! They were stomping right there in the DJ booth, totally unaware that they were making the whole thing shake.

If it were a vinyl DJ set, it would’ve been a disaster.

And yet, even though Seb was dancing super intensely, he somehow created almost no vibrations. That’s what I call an expert move! 😂

昨日Shaktaの出演するパーティーに行ってきた。
Shaktaは別名義でKaya project というダウンビート、チルアウトのプロジェクトも大人気のSeb Taylorさん。
私がInterchill のレーベルDJをやっていた時にはKaya ProjectのWalking Throughという名作のリリースがinterchill recordsからあって、私は今はオールドスクールゴアのDJをやっているので縁を感じるアーティスト。
そのShaktaのライブ、若いイスラエリたちでめっちゃ盛り上がってた！30年経っても私たちを踊らせ続ける楽曲、、、。さすがとしか言えない。

ダンスフロアは最後までパンパンで、おばちゃん化を否定できない私はDJブースのはじで踊っていたのだけど、このステージが誰かが踊るたびに揺れるのよ！
DJブースが揺れると、音が止まる原因になるのでDJたちは自然と足をどんどんと踏み鳴らさないような踊り方を身につける。
振動は起こさずに、でもフルパワーダンスのやり方。
DJブースによく訪れる業界人の方たちもそのダンスを身につけているだろう。

でも、ここゴアの若者たちはそのダンスは身につけていない。
むしろDJブースでもドンドンと足を踏み鳴らしてダンスしてい　る。揺れている。気づいてない。。。

バイナルDJだったら大変なことになっていた。

Sebさん、こんなに激しく踊っていたけど振動はほぼなかった。
この面でもさすがエキスパートだなって思ったw

DINO is the DJ who blew my mind the furthest in my 30+ years of partying...

It was a party held in 1998 at Woodland in Goa to celebrate the wedding of Dino's brother. The dancefloor was pretty freaky. At the time, I wasn’t DJing myself, and I don’t remember at all what tracks were playing. It was just an insane party.

Since then, I hadn’t had the chance to hear DINO DJ again, but I came across this mix for the first time since then.

He truly is a great DJ...

An amazing set. The track selection and mixing are superb!
Please give it a listen. This is the ultimate world of Goa trance that I absolutely love.

Happy New Year! 🎉💗 I look forward to another year together 🙇

Well, I've come to Pushkar for the New Year's Eve party where I DJ'd. The party was held at a resort, which was fully booked for the event, and the spacious courtyard there became the party venue. They even booked a room for me inside the venue, so I was really comfortable.

The music started in the afternoon on the 31st, and my set was from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM, just before the main act, He**ai Cameraman. I was DJing with my laptop placed on the CDJs, but the setup was unstable, and there wasn’t anywhere else to put it. Unfortunately, the laptop crashed twice during my set... It was only for a few seconds each time, but I felt really bad about stopping the music. Luckily, the laptop wasn’t damaged. Afterward, the sound technician helped me find a more stable spot to place my laptop.

Despite the mishaps, the crowd’s energy and dancing warmed up the floor, and I felt like I was able to pass the baton to He**ai Cameraman in a good atmosphere. It made me so happy to share and enjoy the world of music I love with so many people 💗 DJing is so fun! I want to do it more! I’m looking forward to future bookings!

During He**ai Cameraman’s set, I couldn’t handle the cold anymore, so I went to my room. Once I snuggled into my warm bed, I just couldn’t bring myself to leave, and ended up sleeping through until the next morning 😅. When I woke up, the party was still going strong! It lasted until around 11 AM, and I heard there were about 600 people in attendance. The party was a huge success, and everyone was happy 🙏💗😊

さて、年越しパーティーでのDJでプシュカルに来ています。
パーティーはリゾートを貸し切ってそこの広い中庭がパーティー会場になっていました。会場内に私の部屋もとってくれて快適でした。
31日の午後から音が始まり私の出番はメインアクトのhentai cameraman の前の21時から23時。
CDJ上にパソコンを置いてdjしていたんだけどそこが安定が悪く、でも他にパソコンを置く場所がみつからずそこでやってたらパソコンが落ちてしまい、、、しかも2回も😞数秒間だけど二回も音を止めてしまって申し訳なかったです。でもパソコン壊れなくて良かった。
そのあとは音響の人に手伝ってもらって場所を変えました。
そんなアクシデントもあったけどフロアのみんなの声援やダンスでフロアも良い感じにあたたまり、ヘンカメにバトンを渡せたかなって思います。私の大好きな音の世界をたくさんの人たちと共有して楽しめて嬉しかった💗DJって楽しい。もっとやりたい！ブッキングお待ちしています！
He**ai camera の途中で寒さに耐えられず部屋に。一度ぬくぬくの布団に入ってしまったらもう出れず、そのまま朝まで寝てしまった😅
朝起きたらパーティーはまだ続いていて！朝11時くらい迄続いていました。
600人くらいのお客さんがきたようでした。パーティーは大成功でみんなハッピーでした🙏💗😊

To celebrate my appointment as a label DJ for DAT Universe, I’m introducing some of my favorite tracks from the label’s releases in this series. For the third installment, I’ve chosen "Spiritual Chaos" by Charm, a project by two of Japan’s leading Goa trance artists, K.U.R.O and Tatsuo Endo, released on DAT Universe’s sublabel, Unreleased Goa Records.

K.U.R.O.has been a true pioneer of Japan’s trance scene, active as TTT(Tokyo Techno Tribe) since the early days of parties. Even now, he continues to release tracks with the outstanding quality you’d expect from a veteran.

This track doesn’t aim to be emotional but has a highly memorable melody, a fat bassline, and groovy drum sounds. It’s one of my favorites, and I listen to it often.

To celebrate my appointment as a DJ for the DAT Universe label, I’ve decided to start sharing some of my favorite tracks from DAT releases.

For the second installment, here’s the remix and remaster of DOOF’s masterpiece Let’s Turn On. From it, I’ve chosen Mars Needs Women (Live Mix).

I’ve listened to the original track so many times that, as amazing as it is, it’s hard to experience it with fresh ears anymore. But then—who would’ve thought that decades after its release, I’d get to hear a remix I’d never heard before? It brought back the freshness and surprise of hearing this track for the very first time.

It reminded me again of just how incredible Mars Needs Women truly is!

DAT UniverseレーベルのDJに就任したお祝いとして、DATリリースの中からお気に入りの曲をシェアしていくことにしました。

第2回目は、DOOFの名作『Let’s Turn On』のリミックス＆リマスター。その中から Mars Needs Women (Live Mix)。

The first track I want to highlight is from Virtuart aka Olivier, a great friend I met in Goa and a huge fan of his work. He has so many tracks I love, so picking just one is tough, but let's start with this one: Indian Summer.
