Once, poets were magicians.
Poets were strong, stronger than warriors or kings
Stronger than old hapless gods.
And they will be strong once again.

My pen got lost

My pen got lost in it's own words trying to let out its ink,
My pen got lost in it's own ink trying to let out what got sank,
My pen got lost in it's own story trying to finish what it started,
And now my pen can't write anymore, cause it's lost,I lost my pen trying to figure out the worth to a poet and the worth with my writing I lost my pen trying to write about life, love and nothing
I lost my pen because the words I wrote were too haunting
I lost my pen to the far-fetched freedom I was hunting
My pen got lost in a maze of rhyming words
My pen got lost between this and unknown worlds
It got to write my thoughts only in part
My pen got lost as I poured out all my heart.

Stage Name :The Afriqun Black Bird (Abibi)
I began page poetry back in highschool, but pursued performance/stage poetry in 2020.
I have won awards both in page poetry and stage poetry (Stage poetry :Anex Got talent became the second best with a spoken word poem entitled *MY LADY PHOENIX* Which was a dedication to every strong woman, I am a poet with the mission to champion Gender equality of which in comes an award I won from an Organization I work with known as *Ospreyempire* and become the best with a poem know as *WHEELS AND HEELS*
I won and was accorded certificates for a writers magazine known as *WE WRITE YOU READ* They include : *HOPE, MY FIRST LOVE, HORIZON, TEARS & SHADE* which *aquired* second and third positions in the altanating sequence, all page poems
My favorite poem/piece include *MY LADY PHOENIX AND BISEXUAL* with the first one on my blog and the second one on my YouTube channel.
The challenges are several but to narrow down, art can hurt especially if you feel rejection from your target audience so I have had to deal with people turning their backs on me because of the sensitive themes I presume including sexuality and gender norms, but the baseline is an artist has to inspire regardless of the percentage.

My best moments include when I performed *MY LADY PHOENIX* and was approached by a number of *fans* from the audience who opened up and said they were touched and felt inspired by the poem at that moment the position did not matter but the hearts I had touched with that piece of art, then in came BISEXUAL which resulted to a reaction I expected from my audience and it felt as a big achievement since it went global in the first ten hours after release.
I would like to inform an aspiring poet out there that my experience is different from hers/his but what brings us out of the cage we are in is the Patience, the consistency and most of all the discipline.
Find your purpose and reason for pursuing poetry and go unshaken.

Hello guys, I guess am not much of a "take my picture as i perform" guy😂. So currently i just have that one pic with me.
My stage name is NiT.A.P(ThArt Afriqan Poet). The reason I came up with this name is because i wanted a name that has an "African touch" in it and so i just adopted the word Africa in my name. I wanted the African touch since it gives me an artistic vibe and also i get so much inspiration from African stories.
I started poetry back in 2017 while still in high school. That was when i started writing, rhyming words and sentences in a certain book and on the final night after the K.C.S.E I got to perform for my fellow students and the B.O.G of the school. It was an amazing experience.
My 1st achievement in my poetic journey and the most greatest of all is that, I thought I could do it and I did it. The other achievements include having two projects on my YouTube channel and also having participated and ended up being the week 3 winner for the NIRUSHIE KAKITU CHALLENGE, and also attaining a 1st runner's up position in a JUKWAA arts competition on ZUIA COVID. These achievements really make me pursue greater heights and strive to achieve them.
My major challenges in this journey have been financial challenges and lack of moral support from some of my most trusted friends, anyway, si ni life.😎.
I won't say choosing a favourite among my pieces is like "choosing among my children" 😂. So my favourite piece is R.I.P. PAPA. This piece holds so much sentimental value to me since 70% of it is based on a true story and also, the piece took me a period of 1 and a half years to complete it, so it's very special to me.
Each time am on stage it's a special moment for me but my best of all moments was when one day I was performing and when I was on stage I spotted my mom in the audience. It was so unexpected and it gave me a certain feeling siezi waeleza😂. Ilikua amazing and so encouraging.
