Ingredients:

For the Cake:

4 oz German sweet chocolate

1/2 cup water

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups sugar

4 large eggs, separated

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup buttermilk

For the Coconut-Pecan Frosting:

1 cup evaporated milk

1 cup sugar

3 large egg yolks

1/2 cup butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 and 1/2 cups flaked coconut

1 cup chopped pecans

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.

Melt the chocolate in water over low heat, stirring constantly. Cool.

Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in vanilla and melted chocolate.

Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating until smooth after each addition.

1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Zest of 3 lemons
1/4 cup lemon juice

Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
Zest of 1 lemon
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch cake pans.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
4. Combine buttermilk, sour cream, vanilla extract, lemon zest, and lemon juice in a separate bowl.

Cold Oven Pound Cake

2 sticks Butter, unsalted, Room Temp.
8 ounces Cream cheese, Room Temp.
3 cups sugar
6 each large egg, Room Temp.
3 cups cake flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon butter flavoring
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract

Do not pre-heat oven.....

In a stand mixer, cream together the butter and cream cheese, then the sugar. When smooth, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well before adding the next (2-3 minutes between each egg.) Add the vanilla, lemon and butter flavoring and mix until incorporated. Gradually add the flour, mixing only until incorporated. Place the batter into a greased and floured tube or bundt pan. Place the pan into the COLD oven, set the oven to 325 and bake for about 1 hour 15 minutes, or until golden brown and cracked on top.

You can change the flavoring you use, the best I've tasted was a 3/4 teaspoon of vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon each of Lemon, Butter & Almond.

If you do not have time to let everything come up to room temp, put the eggs, butter and cream cheese in hot water for a few minutes or the cake will not rise like it should.

If you want the bottom to be moist, cook it a few minutes less.
