GO TALK TO YOUR SPOUSE

YOU: God, I have been praying for my marriage but things are not changing. I thought You were a faithful God who answers prayers?

GOD: That is because you are doing half of the work

YOU: What do you mean God? I have prayed, fasted, cried till my tears have run out. You don't want to listen. Am I cursed? Have You stopped loving me?

GOD: Half of the work means you are only talking with Me but not talking with your spouse. I wish your spouse could hear the wonderful things you tell Me. You pray to Me, but then go and give your spouse silent treatment and attitude. My child; in salvation you are one with Me, but in marriage you are one with your spouse

YOU: I thought praying is enough. Isn't it Your work to soften my spouse's heart

GOD: Prayer is not enough, love is enough. It doesn't matter how much you pray if you don't allow love to move through you. I can soften your spouse's heart but I need a vessel of honour. Question is, are you willing to be the vessel of honour?

YOU: How?

GOD: Pray for your spouse then go and talk with your spouse with gentleness and love; let your spouse see Me in your response. Don't talk at your spouse, talk with your spouse. Hear your spouse out; your spouse has things that you ought to know. In fact, ask your spouse if there is anything your spouse would like you to pray for because sometimes you make biased prayers about your spouse. You are hurting your spouse but come to pray to Me to change your spouse

YOU: What if my spouse doesn't react well to my conversations? I am so mad at my spouse, I feel resentment when I see my spouse

GOD: Have you considered asking Me to help you to forgive your spouse? You cannot build your marriage on bitterness, anger or revenge. As you come to ask Me to change your spouse, have you asked me to change your heart. Your heart has become hardened by your spouse instead of softened by My presence. Are you giving your spouse more power than you give Me over your life? Who is at the center of your life?

YOU: Forgive me Lord, I repent

GOD: Don't give harshness for harshness. Let Me cleanse your tongue. Ministry begins at home and so let Me minister to your spouse through you. If your spouse was a stranger you were leading to Me, you would be more gracious. Where is grace when it comes to your spouse? The best time people will see the God in you, it's not in the good times but in the midst of storms. Go talk to your spouse; and for your information; I have been telling your spouse the same things I am telling you. In addition to praying to Me; you two need to talk with each other. No relationship, whether with Me or your spouse; can be attended to without communication

YOU: Thank You for being a faithful God

DAD, HOW COME YOU AND MOM ARE NOT TOGETHER?

DAD: Pass me the salt please

CHILD: There you go (handing over the salt shaker)

DAD: (Receiving the salt shaker) Thank you. You like the beef stew?

CHILD: I love it. I have noticed you make nice beef stew and mommy makes delicious chicken stew

DAD: Ah yes, your mom is great in the kitchen

CHILD: How come you and mommy don't live together? Why did you separate?

DAD: It's better this way

CHILD: Really? I thought children are meant to grow up with both dad and mom?

DAD: But you are with me and your mother

CHILD: No. I am with mom from Monday to Friday and with you over the weekends

DAD: Your mom and I don't love each other like we used to. But we never stopped loving you

CHILD: You don't love mommy?

DAD: I respect her as your mother as a woman that I was once with

CHILD: Dad, you don't love mommy? (Sad tone)

DAD: Come on, don't be sad. One day you will be a grown up and you will understand. Sometimes adults who have been together can't stand each other, especially when one or both of them do wrong and they keep fighting

CHILD: You and mom used to fight?

DAD: Fighting is wrong, but yes. We argued, shouted and got mean to each other. We tried but our love failed. We noticed that our fighting was affecting you and so we ended our love and separated. It was for your good that we had to live a part, at least we got to be peaceful and raise you in peace

CHILD: What wrongs did mommy do, what wrongs did you do?

DAD: No my child. I will not tell you bad things about your mother or about myself. We are your parents, that is what matters

CHILD: Why not forgive each other and get back together?

DAD: Forgiving doesn't mean that we get back together. Sometimes you have to forgive and walk away. I have forgiven her, I don't know if she has forgiven me

CHILD: I can ask her

DAD: No child, no need. I agreed with mom that my business will remain my business and hers will remain hers. No using you as the messenger to communicate or give information

CHILD: OK dad. You miss her?

DAD: It's been long. I moved on. I have a woman now and you've met her

CHILD: Karimi?

DAD: Yes

CHILD: Where is she? She lives here?

DAD: Not yet. I haven't yet made her my wife. Once she and I get married, you'll find her here everyday. She loves you by the way

CHILD: I am not sure I want to be loved by her

DAD: Why?

CHILD: She's not my mother

DAD: As my wife, she will be your step mother, like a second mother and one day, your mother will find another man who will become your second father

CHILD: I think mom already has a boyfriend

DAD: She does?

CHILD: Yes. There is this man she talks with every night over the phone. He comes to visit mom sometimes. His name is Wafula

DAD: Ahh.. Wafula treats you well?

CHILD: Yes. He is funny, he has an interesting walking style and loves Arsenal of all teams... Arsenal!

DAD: (Laughing) Oh my! The team that never wins. Is mom happy?

CHILD: Eh.. I thought you said mom's business is her business dad?

DAD: (Laughing) You're a quick learner

CHILD: She looks happy with her boyfriend

DAD: Good. Though grown ups don't call them boyfriend. Boyfriends are for teenagers. Just say that's your mom's man

CHILD: OK dad

DAD: And if they are in love, Wafula will be your step dad and I want you to respect him and treat him like a father

CHILD: But you're my father

DAD: I am and will always be your father. I am not going anywhere. Wafula will become a second father because he will be your mom's husband, if they get married... I hope he is serious. Many men play around with single mothers and waste their time. She needs a serious man

CHILD: He better be serious. Do you regret separating with mom?

DAD: We had our time and it is over. Many things were not right between us

CHILD: Including me?

DAD: No, you are the best thing that happened between us. We had a wrong love but you are a blessing. I now have a chance to do love again and so does your mom and we will do it right. Your mom thought that I will be a dead beat

CHILD: A dead beat?

DAD: That means a man who runs away and leaves the mother and the child. But I would never leave you. Even though I am not together with your mother, I can never leave you. Your mother and I had to find a way how she and I can raise you together even though we are a part. We both love you

CHILD: I love you too dad. I love the both of you

a professional DSLR Kshs. 250,000

Sound equipment for pristine sound recording Kshs. 7,000
plus other camera accessories Kshs. 10,000 (Memory Cards, waterproof case for raining wedding days, exra personell for those days to hold umbrellas,
(times two if two photographers)

Minus video editors, video editing studios, photo editors and photo editing equipment, approx. Kshs. 350,000
