Wedding Gown vs. Body Type. Does your body type limit you to a particular wedding gown design?

It is apparent that women are policed quite some. Limitations seem to have been placed on the woman with regards to what she can or cannot wear.

Here are suggestions on how you can navigate the question of your body type vs. your desired wedding gown design!

#1 First and foremost, as a bride, know thine own self; and by this we mean, know what your body type is

#2 Every lady has a style they are comfortable with, a style that is common in their wardrobe. So . . . embrace your personal style of dressing!

#3 Because you know body type, and you know your personal style, you therefore ALREADY KNOW YOUR CHOICE OF DESIGN! BE CONFIDENT ABOUT IT! Don't let Instagram or Pinterest put undue pressure on your desire.

#4 Bring your personal style and your desired gown design into your conversation with your wedding gown designer.

We discussed whether or not your body type limits you to a particular type of wedding gown design. But let's not assume we all know what body types are.

Here is a breakdown:
- round or apple
- triangle or pear-shape
- inverted triangle
- rectangle or straight
- hourglass

Engagement Shoot, all you need to know about . . .

1. Sometimes called the pre-wedding shoot, the base definition of the engagement shoot is the photoshoot that happens before the wedding.

2. This shoot helps you build chemistry between you and your photographer. It allows for the photographer to understand who you are as individuals and as a couple.

3. Consider carrying:
- change of wardrobe
- a statement piece
- props

4. Location?
- Your wedding venue is a perfect location for your engagement shoot
- Picnic spaces like Karura Forest or Arboretum Park are also great locations

5. Most Important: Put all the hot, touchy topics aside this day. Keeps all the arguments at bay. That way, you can truly enjoy your photoshoot and give a genuine smile or hug.

Will Food Be Enough at Your Wedding? . . . This is how to make sure of this!

Food is a big deal at a wedding. It can be embarassing to have it run out. But there is a way you can guarantee all your guests get a healthy serving of food at your wedding . . .

Here are 6 tips on how:

#1
Use the numbers at your traditional functions (ruracio, koito) as an indicator of how excited people are about you guys, and therefore how many people to expect at your wedding.

#2
Write down a guest list of everyone you wish to invite, (and perhaps even those whom you know will come even if not invited). Have your spouse, your parents and your spouse's parents do the same.

#3
Agree on the final guest list with your spouse, and both sets of parents. This is a good time to discuss budget vs. numbers vs. quality of wedding. Once agreed, proceed to send out invites.

#4
Get RSVPs which basically means you call everyone invited to confirm that they are coming. We also want to avoid the opposit outcome - cooking for 100 people, only for 50 to show up.

#5
Allocate contigencies: just like when budgeting, you allocate 10% for miscellaneous, add on top of the final agreed number, 10% - 20% more plates into your allocated budget amount for catering.

#6
Cater to Your Vendors: remember you have vendors serving you on the day - the planning team, the MC, the photographers etc. Add them to your catering budget, or discuss with your caterer a simpler but decent meal for the team serving you on your special day

One way to keep the stress levels at a minimum is to have the right information from seasoned wedding professionals. We realize you have probably never done this before. And so we would love to walk with you, advise you, and hold your hand as you embark on this exhilarating journey.

Every Wednesday morning, I will have short one-on-one conversations, on Instagram, with gurus in the wedding industry. We shall be answering your most frequently asked questions. Let's call this project, "Ask The Weddy Guru."
