The Jeonju North Jeolla KOTESOL group was created to build a professional layer on to the already outstanding social community which exists, here in Jeonju. The branch brings in teachers (Korean and native English speakers) from the major city and neighbouring towns, providing a forum in which teachers can exchange and debate ideas, from a professional point of view. The existence of this network

aims to raise the standard of teaching in Jeollabuk-do, as well as offering a venue for teachers (both new faces and old) to meet and socialise.

Earlier this month, there was the KOTESOL International Conference. So rather than more classroom time with workshops, we decided to head outdoors and get a feel for our new home base: Jeonbuk National University.
It was a really great day!
We look forward to welcoming many participants for our first workshop here on June 7th.

🌟 What an incredible workshop! 🌟

The Jeonju-North Jeolla KOTESOL Workshop: "Beyond Words – Teaching English Through Music and Culture" was a truly inspiring event!

🎶 Dr. Natalie Thibault showed us how to move beyond traditional fill-in-the-gap exercises, using pop music to spark meaningful conversations, critical thinking, and creativity in ESL classrooms.

♀️ Aida Ulukbekova, Maria Vasquez, and Liliana Tintin led a powerful session on International Women’s Day, exploring global traditions and sharing innovative ways to bring gender equality and women's achievements into our lessons.

đź’ˇ The discussions were insightful, the energy was amazing, and the connections we made were invaluable. Whether you're a seasoned educator or just starting, this event reminded us of the power of culture and music in language learning.

A huge thank you to all the speakers, organizers, and participants who made this workshop such a success! Let’s keep the inspiration going in our classrooms!
