With a good number of 21 years behind him of collecting rare plastic/vinyl as early as 97’, it
is safe to say that Floyd Mash aka DADDY D is a true vinyl connoisseur and amongst the
remaining few religious vinyl collectors of note.
Having graced stages as a dj in places from the era of Koffiekan (97-98) in Pretoria, Vinyl
Joint (JHB), Vinyl Lifestyle(JHB), Cofi Sunnyside(PTA), Boisantha(Thembisa), Citizen
Lifestyle (Olifantsfontein), YDE (Durban), Monakato (NW) 457 Record Bar (PTA) to list a few
and the popular known House 22 where he currently holds a residency, it is safe to say that
he is an expert at spinning vinyls as his preferred medium of performance.
Radio Appearances : MetroFM Urban Beat, TouchHD & Tshwane Radio Station (TUT)
Daddy D has played alongside heavyweights in the industry including the Legendary Mbuso,
Glen Lewis, Vinny Da Vinci, Dj Christos, Black Coffee, Jazzy D, Dj Bubbles, Avante GardeTroupe(Trev The Japanese, KSK & Thabo Phalatse), as well as That Guy Larry, Jimmy II
Fingers, Colcol Mokgadi, Dj Buhle, Dj Lady Sakhe(Deep Soul Sensation), Sboniso Ngubo,

Different Lifestyle, Chix Bishop Molox, The Garage Sessions, Duplay Music, Dead Birds,
Brino Soul, Dino Afro, Activists 1976, Sean Mcabe from the UK to mention a few and his
taste in music is bound to take him to even greater heights.
He is part of a collective movement dubbed ‘’Sounds So Deep’’ which is a greater part of a
Mobile Social Hangout drive hosting events at different provinces within South Africa as well
as events coordination. The movement has under its belt a total of 16k followers on various
social media handles named ‘’Sounds So Deep’’ and hosts monthly mixtapes under the
‘’Sounds So Deep’’ podcast which is currently sitting with 53 monthly episodes. He is also
the current driver of Shipment Fridays at 457 Record Bar(PTA). This is a movement where
new records/vinyls arriving in the country are churned to patrons giving them exclusive
listening sessions of what’s currently in the market vinyl related as well as an opportunity to
purchase.
The craving he has for wax/records/vinyl is incurable and this can be concluded on the fact
that he ships/collects records/vinyls from various (UK, USA, Japan, Russia, Netherlands,
Germany) places abroad on a weekly basis and he is up to date with majority of recent
releases of music on vinyl.
In closing Daddy D is a true description of versatility in the music he plays and with a huge
number of years of experience in the industry knowing what (down tempo/ambient, deep
house, balleuric, minimal tech, international, jazz) to play at various events is one of his
sterling skills.
