Greetings to everyone!

It was our pleasure to participate in Cooltur Luxembourg event supported by Ville de Luxembourg

📜«All people are the same, only their habits differ» Confucius

Last Thursday at the event "Dining beyond borders" organized by Cooltur Luxembourg, Lëtzebuerg City Museum and Ville de Luxembourg we listened to Angela Domasyova a real expert art of the table and contemporary etiquette.
Table manners are part of the cultural and economic development of any civilization. They follow a specific logic and are linked to the history of each country. We have travelled from ancient Egypt to our times.
For instance, we discovered that spoons are believed to be the first utensils used by humans. They mimic the shape of a cupped hand. The first spoons were found in the ruins of Ancient Egypt, and dated back to 1000 BC. First use of the table fork instead in Western Europe is associated with the Byzantine empire.

Angela's presentation allowed us to reply to interesting questions such as : how tables manners in the Middle East differ from the Asian ones ? Do you know the dining etiquette for eating with your hands ? What is service à la "française" ? What is service à la "russe" ? Why the form of a table shapes our conversations? Why small talks are not so "small*?

The presentation went through many very interesting aspects of art of the table in the different cultures.
Thank you Angela and Luxembourg School of Contemporary Etiquette 🍽

Greetings to everyone,

In the times of pandemic we have focused on social activities a lot.

The project below is one in our list. It is implemented in the frame of Intercultural Cities and Learning Programme with the support of Anna Lindh Foundation and co-founded by the European Union.

Luxembourg is a city promoting diversity, inclusiveness, social cohesion, and sustainable development. The objective of the project is to give visibility for cultural diversity, celebrate the diversity of cultures in the Euro-Mediterranean region, highlight the common features and values we share, combating stereotyping, and prejudices.

We have shot interviews with people of different nationalities, genders, ages in the streets of Luxembourg asking them questions to discover their cultural background, their values and level of satisfaction living in Luxembourg, connections and relationships with the countries and cultures of their origin.

As the final stage of the project we invite you to participate in our discussion of the film planned for December 02 2021 . We will speak about integration and diversity in Luxembourg and together will find the answers to the question: Is it possible to integrate here without distancing yourself from your roots and native culture?

However for us, Ladies, most precious and constant still remain elegance, self-confidence, building meaningful relationships.

The programme of our 4 day Etiquette for ladies course is designed to give you all the relevant tools so that you can start your journey and go in full sail.

Join us for the event https://forms.gle/jFZfTUVWnsSizCaD8 - we will be glad to meet you there.

Our greetings to everyone!

So many funny attempts to invent Video Conf Etiquette lately. Some give advices like a new median dress code must be applied when working from home 😁

In our opinion, it is a bit weird to go formal/overdressed when sitting on a couch at your temporary "office". None of us would do it, really. We all know that you are at home and it is too much. Underdressed would not serve you good either though.

The more important things would be:
- good internet connection;
- proper mic setting to allow for a good sound;
- the angle of your camera with the length pointing directly at your eyes;
- your background - no distractions, please. It should be neutral and as dull as possible to let a person focus on your speech first;
- light is the key - please, take care that your face is not in the shadow ;
- please, no doors opening by your children/mom/wife... or no talking to/stroking your pet;
- focus on your conference - mobile phones and other gadgets off, please.

And the basic Etiquette principle would help you be at your top no matter if it is on- or offline - respect to your interlocutor and making other people feel comfortable.

Contact us via messenger or by e-mail [email protected] to learn about our online individual coaching, workshop & training schedule.

Look forward to meeting you!

A positive difference to your life

Welcome to Luxembourg School of Contemporary Etiquette!

At birth, each of us has equal chances for personal development. As we grow, we learn and improve in order to use our potential and become successful at what we do. Step by step we build relationships with people we meet in life. At some point we come to realise that although in many ways all humans are similar, there is something inevitably unique about every single one of us. We call this thing ‘individuality’. Individuality is what makes one stand out from the crowd in both personal life and business. However, it is not true that a natural talent by itself defines a high-flier. It is always about the combination of our inborn traits, the effort we put into multiplying our virtues and working out our weaknesses but also the ability to come to an understanding with other people – demonstration of social skills.

Etiquette is not a subject to learn - it is the art of understanding people and a tool to apply in your everyday living. It transforms your inner self, your attitude to others and your manner of behaviour. Once you start paying attention to it, you will never be the same. You will see how your surroundings change as well. We bet it is worth trying!

At the LSCE we speak about Etiquette as a handy and reliable tool for developing your personality. It is not only the money that divides the cake. It is your attitude and manners that differentiate you from the rest in the room.
