✅ The RIXARCH 2024 conference brought together a number of distinguished and internationally important speakers who shared their experience in architecture and urban planning.

🔸Ole Wiig, co-founder and creative director of NSW Architects, presented an innovative design approach to architecture.

🔸Nancy Josephson, President of the Civita Institute or Northwest Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning in Italy (NIAUSI), offered an insight into a unique planning approach oriented towards the interaction between architecture and urban planning.

🔸The experience was also shared by Jana Jākobsone, Chief Architect of the UNESCO World Heritage City of Kuldīga.

👉The Rixarch Conference 2024 focused on the outstanding Latvian architect and pedagogue Astra Zariņa. ⛪️Born in 1929 in Riga, Astra Zariņa began her studies at the University of Washington in 1947, where she studied from such architects as Laionel Price, Wendell Lovett and Viktor Steinbruck.

✅Until 31st of March, 2023 you have a opportunity to visit RISEBA.lv exhibition created by the students and teachers of Riseba University / FAD faculty. The exhibition "SECOND ACT: PROJECT RIGA" takes place at Latvijas Nacionālā bibliotēka / National Library of Latvia .

✅The American architect John Hejduk was one of the most visible figures in 20th century architecture pedagogy. Hejduk’s unique approach to architectural education created an innovative pedagogical process — «live projects», within which students were given the opportunity to explore the full cycle of work from defining an idea to the physical realization of a project.

✅We wrote previously about the three-volume edition of John Hejduk: The Riga Project that marked the 35th anniversary of Hejduk’s installation dedicated to Riga at the University of the Arts of Philadelphia. The book documents the course of development of two anthropomorphic structures — Object and Subject — and begins the project’s new production in Riga and elsewhere in Latvia.

➡️The conference aims to bring together distinguished and emerging local scholars and host an international forum to facilitate discussions on current issues in architecture. The conference will cover various topics in architecture with a contemporary edge and from a multidisciplinary perspective.

✅There were special conference closing event, when Rixarch Conference speakers and guests were invited to have a excursion in Riga, Latvia together with our partners from Smile Line guide agency

John Quentin Hejduk (July 19, 1929 – July 3, 2000) was an American architect, artist and educator of Czech origin who spent much of his life in New York City. Hejduk is noted for having had a profound interest in the fundamental issues of shape, organization, representation, and reciprocity.

✅ Hejduk studied at the Cooper Union School of Art and Architecture, the University of Cincinnati, and the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He worked in several offices in New York including that of I. M. Pei and Partners and the office of A.M. Kinney and Associates. He established his own practice in New York City in 1965.
