A MESSAGE FROM Night Owl Movies

SAFFRON SUNSET CINEMA CANCELLED

We’re reposting this, just in case you missed it…

Unfortunately, the weather has once again decided to cause havoc with our schedule, and due to the strong gusty winds forecast for Saturday 22nd July, we have no choice but to cancel this screening on safety grounds.

As previously mentioned, we had to cancel our whole weekend last weekend, so we are now in a position of losing at least 4 shows out of 9 - due to the weather. As a result, it is simply economically un-viable to run any further showings and incur further losses. Therefore all planned screenings are now cancelled.

We are deeply frustrated and upset with the situation - a huge amount of work goes into preparing for these events - and we extend our apologies for any inconvenience and disappointment caused. We hope you understand.

A full refund will of course be issued over the coming days. Please bear with us, it will take some time to process everyone's refund. Keep an eye on your spam folders too - you should receive an email confirmation from PayPal of your refund, once processed.

We are screening some titles over at National Trust Wimpole next month. Take a look here for details - bit.ly/wimpole_open_air_cinema. Hopefully, the weather will have sorted itself out by then!

We love the setting of Bridge End Gardens for an outdoor cinema event, and the reaction to our season has been so favourable.

We did indeed want the fairytale. We wanted to bring something new and fresh to the community of Saffron Walden and while we were excited for The Greatest Show... well… let’s just say we’re being left in the corner…

Unfortunately, the weather has once again decided to cause havoc with our schedule, and due to the strong gusty winds forecast for Saturday 22nd July, we have no choice but to cancel this screening on safety grounds.

Well... last weekend didn't exactly go to plan, did it?

The Perfect Storm, Twister, The Day After Tomorrow, all movies we love on the big screen, but can't say we're fans of the reality. especially when it affects our inaugural weekend!!

Thank you for all your understanding and believe us, it wasn't easy to cancel these shows. With that in mind, we''ve been hard at work over the weekend, rejigging things around so we can maximise the rest of the Saffron Sunset Cinema.

We have had to make the hard decision to cancel tonight’s screening of Mamma Mia again due to unusually high winds.

Whilst it’s not raining and the sun is out (sort of) the fluctuating wind speeds give us cause for concern.

The HSE maximum wind speed for inflatables is 24mph wind and wind gusts. If the conditions are exceeded, we will have no choice but to cancel the showing.

We are hopeful for better weather in the weeks to come so we can continue with our fundraising events in Saffron Walden.

Please keep an eye out for an email from us over the next few hours if you have bought tickets as we’ll be providing information on how you can receive a refund or swap tickets to another day.

As we look out the window, we've had our smile wiped away by the high winds over the next two days.

With that in mind, we have had to make the hard decision to cancel tonight's and tomorrow night's showings of Dirty Dancing and Pretty Woman.

Safety is paramount to our event and we feel that with the high winds, it's too dangerous to push forward.

If you have bought tickets, you will be notified by email on how you can either receive a refund or swap tickets to another day.

Sunday's showing of Mamma Mia will still go ahead as planned.

This Friday we make sure Baby isn’t put in the corner as we open the gates to our Saffron Sunset Cinema with a little bit of Dirty Dancing.

With doors at 19:00 and the film itself starting at 21:00, you’ll have the time of your life… (we’re not sorry!)

A few FAQs for you:

⭐️The show will go on, rain or shine. Come prepared for any adverse weather.

⭐️The site is accessible for all but, being outdoors, there may be some uneven ground.

⭐️There are toilets onsite.

⭐️Children are allowed, however, they must meet the certification of the film being shown, and have a valid ticket ( No putting them on your shoulders and wearing a long trenchcoat...)
Please note BBFC certification also applies to babies in arms.

⭐️We will have our catering partner, Pull Me Cheri onsite, however, you are most welcome to bring your own food and drink, however, due to licencing we cannot allow alcohol to be brought on site.

⭐️Feel free to bring backrests, folding chairs, or blankets to snuggle in and watch the film. Please note we can’t allow in gazebos, tents or other structures.

⭐️Guide and Assistance Dogs on leads are most welcome to enjoy the movie - others will have to stay at home and mess up your Netflix algorithm.

⭐️Please don’t smoke or v**e inside the event area.

Our final film of our inaugural season could only be the slicked-back classic that is Grease.
