Buckle up... my next Balamii Radio show is a real treat 👽

Last year, I had the pleasure of interviewing Move D ahead of a Club Mick's party that never happened. We chatted about his love for clubbing, techno, space + in particular, Stanley Kubrick’s sci fi masterpiece - ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’.

I recently stumbled upon a pretty dodgy recording of the interview, but with the help of Jack Priest managed to craft it into a respectable bit of audio. You can listen to our conversation next Tuesday on Balamii, accompanied by a 2h mix compiled by myself, of spaced out ambient music solely from Mr. David Moufang’s discography (Move D / Deep Space Network / Intergalatic Federation / Reagenz).

This time I’m joined by Mark McDermott & Ben Kendall from London-born international party collective dansa for a spell-binding hour of magical psychedelia, cosmic and chuggy goodness.

They’ve been throwing parties for the best part of 10 years, with a real focus on sound quality and creating a loving and warm environment. If you head to a dansa party, or listen to one of their mixes, you’ll be pleasantly greeted by a whole array of musical sounds, with the common ground of a groove that runs through it all. Behind This Wall in Hackney has become their recognised home for parties, and I highly recommend heading down to see them spin some lovely records on a ridiculous sound system when we can all dance again. ⁣

The situation in the United States has been heartbreaking to witness and we believe inaction, in this circumstance, is complicit behaviour.

To show support for POC and the BLM movement we are dedicating tonight’s broadcast to celebrate and appreciate POC culture and what it has done for the music industry as a whole.

African American culture has intrinsically influenced and has helped formulate what makes electronic music what it is today. We must give credit where credit is due.

Links on educational resources and donations to support funds can be found below and will be regularly posted on Isolate FM during the evening.

We urge all members, event attendees and collaborators to share the message and show their support with us, especially due to how much the music industry has benefitted from POC.

Most of the selections in this mix were played at the 'wrong speed' in the spirit of a long tradition which has always been popular with selectors not afraid to experiment when they programmed 45 RPM records at 33 1/3 speeds instead. Classic examples of such sets were played in the late 1970's by Jim Burgess or Roy Thode (NYC) during their 'sleaze sets' and as well is something that Daniele Baldelli was renowned for during some of his legendary late-night performances in Italy.
