🎸 Khaled El Nahas — Riffs as heavy as history.

The rhythmic backbone of Anemoya, Khaled isn’t just a guitarist — he’s the sonic architect behind the band’s crushing power and identity. Joining the band in late 2024, he helped transform Anemoya from a studio vision into a full-blown metal force.

He’s also the one who named the band — “Anemoya” — a word that reflects a deep longing for a time or place you’ve never truly known.

🔥 A seasoned force in Egypt’s rock and metal scene, Khaled first made waves with his band Kaab Dayer, commanding stages like the Firestone MENA Talents Live Contest and the epic Rock Festival at Zamalek Theatre in 2021. He also led the Melodic Metalcore/Groove Metal project Daijor, earning respect for his creativity and relentless drive.

Khaled’s playing style blends the raw ferocity of Melodic Death Metal, the emotional grit of Metalcore, and the precision of Thrash Metal, forging a sound that’s as brutal as it is unforgettable.

🖤 Heavy, intense, and unapologetically bold — Khaled’s riffs are the pulse of Anemoya.

🎤 Meet Akram — the voice and soul of Anemoya.

Born and raised in the storied city of Alexandria 🇪🇬, Akram’s connection to music began at an early age, inspired by the haunting voice and poetic depth of Amy Lee. What started as fascination quickly became a passion — one he nurtured over the years, shaping a vocal identity that blends raw emotion with deep storytelling.

In late 2024, Akram co-founded Anemoya with his longtime friend and guitarist Kareem El Sharabasy. Originally a studio project, the duo soon realized their sound needed a full band to truly come alive — and Anemoya was born.

Now fronting the band as lead vocalist and lyricist, Akram channels personal struggles into powerful narratives of introspection, sorrow, and survival. His deep bass-baritone voice — influenced by legends like Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) and Joel Ekelöf (Soen) — flows seamlessly from haunting whispers to piercing screams.

🖤 Anemoya isn’t just music — it’s a release.
And Akram is its heartbeat.

🎉 We are thrilled to announce that Darkside Records and BaBeL (Page-Officielle) are joining forces🎶🇲🇦

🌑 BABEL Bio:

Born in the vibrant city of Mohammedia, BABEL is a sonic force that blends Moroccan roots with rock’s global energy. Formed in 2007 by five musicians united by passion and purpose, BABEL crafts a rich fusion of rock, heavy, blues, and traditional influences, delivering electrifying soundscapes that channel raw emotion and cultural depth.

At the heart of this powerhouse is Adil Bouaouad (vocals), whose journey began in 1991 in Mohammedia’s city choir as a bass soloist. His classical training and concert experience, including duets of Verdi with an ex-Paris Opera baritone, shaped a powerful, expressive voice. In 2010, after years fronting local rock groups, Adil joined BABEL, and with them, won Best Fusion Band at Génération Mawazine 2011. This led to a national tour and their breakout single and music video “Feels So Right”, produced by Grammy awarded RedOne.

On bass is Yassine Ajebli, also from Mohammedia, who began his musical journey after discovering Jason Newsted. Initially self-taught on a 4-string bass, he evolved to 5-string and joined BABEL at its inception in 2007. His rhythmic pulse has anchored the band ever since. Alongside the group, Yassine shared the Génération Mawazine 2011 victory and subsequent national acclaim.

Driss Benkiran, born in Mohammedia, took to the drums at 14 after a transformative moment watching Metallica. His powerful yet versatile style draws from System of a Down, RHCP, Nickelback, and Foo Fighters. As BABEL’s drummer since 2007, he was part of the band’s major milestones, including the RedOne collaboration and performances across Morocco. His drive and precision shape the band’s explosive live energy.

Guitarist Mahfoud Janadi, born in Laâyoune, joined BABEL in 2014 and quickly became known for his melodic, Petrucci-inspired solos. Though originally a drummer, he transitioned to guitar and played in numerous groups including El Amal, Sahara Street, and Soor, performing at festivals such as Al Azawane, Chiâr Al Hassani, and French Institute events. His depth and stage experience enriched BABEL’s evolving sound.

Rounding out the lineup is Othmane El Azzaoui, born in Casablanca, who fell in love with rock at age 11 through his father's cassette tapes. Gifted his first Stratocaster, Othmane dove into blues and rock guitar, later performing nationally with multiple pop and rock groups. His distinctive tone and dynamic stage presence bring youthful fire to the BABEL legacy.

🎧 BABEL is not just a sound—it’s a fusion of cultures, amplified 🇲🇦. Get ready for new records that bridges continents and generations through distortion, groove, and soul 🤘

🎸 Artist of the Month – Timon Yassine Belghith 🎸
Honoring brilliance, legacy, and the future of metal

At Darkside Records, we’re proud to spotlight a truly exceptional artist whose journey has been deeply intertwined with the evolution of the metal scene in North Africa: Timon Yassine Belghith, current bassist of the progressive powerhouse LOST INSEN.

Yassine’s playing is more than just technically masterful, it’s emotionally resonant, compositionally rich, and unafraid to explore the unknown. His genius lies not only in his ability to lock down a groove, but in the way he builds entire soundscapes through the low end. A true craftsman of bass and an ever-evolving musician.

🎙 Our History Together
Our paths crossed during the early days of his rise, when we produced Carthagods. Even then, Yassine stood out, a rare combination of technical fire and melodic sensitivity. His contributions added depth and character to the band’s sound, and it was clear from the start that his musical journey would reach far beyond.

🎧 Today and Beyond
Now with LOST INSEN, Yassine continues to push creative boundaries. The band’s progressive metal signature is a perfect home for his vision, and it’s inspiring to witness how he constantly refines his craft while staying rooted in authenticity.

At Darkside Records, we celebrate not just the artist he is, but also the person we’ve known behind the scenes: passionate, humble, dedicated, and fiercely creative. Naming him Artist of the Month is a way to honor his trajectory, acknowledge his impact, and share with our community the kind of talent we are proud to have collaborated with.

🔥 Timon Yassine Belghith isn’t just part of the metal legacy in North Africa, he’s helping shape its future.

Cold Feet is a haunting confrontation—between who we are and the ghosts of who we could’ve been.

It’s about the paralyzing weight of hesitation, the guilt of severed ties, and the silent battles we fight within ourselves. The lyrics cut deep, the tension is palpable… do you recognize the struggle?

“The day you struck the glass / You broke yourself apart…”
