WHAT HAVE I JUST WATCHED?
We would like to draw your attention to one of the most important topics (important for those who cares about what to drink 😁).
Today it's all about shelf life of batched cocktails.
🏖 Are you planning a trip or event, but unsure about the taste and quality of the cocktails which were ordered ahead? This topic will provide guidance 🧭 to those who is in doubt!

Important factor which affects the shelf life and also the storage condition is ABV of the cocktail. ABV (alcohol by volume) is a standard measure of how much alcohol is contained in a given volume expressed as a volume percent.

Unopened cocktails above 25% ABV will be stored well for up to 3 months at room temperature. Once opened, it's recommended to keep the product chilled.
In addition to this we would like to add that some spirit-forward bottled cocktails, such as Dry Martini or Negroni become even better with time.😏

Absolutely amazing analogy was built by Barry Young, co-founder and master distiller of Pennsylvania Pure Distilleries.
"Think of a bottled cocktail like a blended whiskey: The latter lets a carefully calibrated mix of different whiskeys from different barrels sit together to marry the flavors into a cohesive blend. A blend that’s not left to rest can taste like how a middle school marching band sounds: all the right notes are there, but they’re competing with each other and dragging the whole experience down. Bottled cocktails left to sit work the same way. Give it time and the ingredients will become one cohesive drink." 🧐

Ingredients are another factor.

Our cocktails made of citrus🍋 or highly sugary ones can be stored in a fridge up to 2 weeks. Cocktails which contain juices - up to 1 week. 🍾Opened cocktails should be consumed within 1week.

Let's make it easier:
More than 1 month: Dry Martini, Negroni.

Up to 2 weeks in a fridge: Old Fashioned, Aviation, Rose Gimlet, Moscow Mule, Strawberry Margarita.

Up to 1 week in a fridge: Passion Fruit Daiquiri, Pornstar Martini, Mai Tai, Cosmopolitan.

"A lost classic, rediscovered and restored to its original hue."

Today we would like to highlight a few interesting facts (WAIT, DON'T SKIP) about Aviation cocktail which has been lost for almost a half century and finally was renewed only in 2007.

The main reason why it fell out of favor was that fact that the author of Savoy Cocktail Book (the recipe bible of the era) dropped Crème De Violette from the recipe 🙈 in the 1930s, leaving a mostly sour mixed drink🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️🤦.

Thanks to those drink detectives who were digging through libraries in search of old cocktail manuals, we can enjoy the Aviation cocktail which called for a fourth ingredient - the mysterious Crème De Violette. Rothman & Winter recreated the liqueur in 2007, making the original recipe possible again 🍾.

Despite that fact that there are many brands who produce Crème de Violette liqueur nowadays, this ingredient as well as a cocktail itself remains a mystery for most of the local bars and drink suppliers 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️.

By the way, the cocktail was so 'au courant' that a craft gin out of Portland, Oregon, released in 2006, adopted the drink as its name.
