Vaikuntham Awaits - A Divine Tribute to Maha Vishnu and Maha Lakshmi

This year’s Govinden Thiruvizha 2024 takes on a celestial dimension with our meticulously crafted set, carved entirely from polystyrene, representing Vaikuntham—the divine kingdom of Lord Maha Vishnu and Goddess Maha Lakshmi. Known as the abode of eternal peace, abundance, and divine grace, Vaikuntham is a realm that symbolizes liberation from worldly suffering and the ultimate union with the Supreme.

Each element of this setup, from the grand entrance doors to the intricate statues, was designed with deep reverence, symbolizing the protective and nurturing nature of the deities. The gold accents and sacred motifs reflect the opulence and purity of this eternal sanctuary, where righteousness and devotion reign supreme.

Creating this set was a true labor of love, requiring the collective power of our team, unmatched creativity, and flawless ex*****on. Every carved pillar and statue signifies the spiritual grandeur and cosmic balance that Vaikuntham embodies, reminding us of the ultimate goal of life—moksha, or liberation.

May this tribute inspire a deep connection to the divine and bring blessings to all who witness its beauty. Vaikuntham is more than a kingdom; it is the spiritual destination where the soul finds its eternal rest. 🌿🙏

"The Desi Girl's abode"

We had lots of fun, working on this project.
For this particular project, we wanted to reflect some traditional elements of indian lifestyle contrasting with a modern and girly room.

A pink pastel wall with some splash of colours to enhance our setup.

Looking forward for more project like this one...

Before realising this alangaram,
We went through some procedures.
We experiment different beans before choosing the best suited for alangaram.

We then tried on a smaller scale, to have proper glimpse of what can be achieved.
After having a better understanding of materials, colour combinations and support for application, we could finally attempt this masterpiece.

Later we will share the meaning of dhaanya alangaram and the significance of the beans according to ayurveda.

Note:
Never be afraid of experimenting with different means and media. The final outcome may surprise you...

We keep moving forward altogether.

RAJA MAALAI ALANGARAM

Entirely crafted with dry beans (grain sec), this exquisite alangaram is the embodiment of our love and devotion.

This is the best exemple to show that everything is possible when there is unity and mutual respect towards each other.

We are four pillars, but with the same aim and dedication to our crafts.
More than friends, we are one family.

This scenery was inspired by the ancient temples in India.
With this stone and granite colour tone, totally in contrast to the actual temple colour. Thus, giving this vintage look.

We've turned a simple sketch into a reality.
Let's start with the mayil vahanam. Vahana means pulling or carrying.
Lord Murugan is always accompanied by his celestial vehicle (vahanam), the peacock or mayil in Tamil.
This shows that he has completely conquered pride, egoism and vanity.

There is a cobra under his feet which indicates that he is absolutely fearless, immortal and wise.

The Vahana of Shanmukha, the peacock, shows the form of the Pranava om ! When the peacock spreads its tail, it has the round shape of the Pranava. Within it is the Para Brahma Jyoti, which is the form of Murugan or Subrahmanya.
The subordinate serpent held in check by the feet of the peacock shows that Maya or impurity is completely subdued by the power of Pranava.

Secondly, the chosen alangaram.
Alangaram is the term used to embellish divinity. It can take many different forms and elements.
Most often, in Mauritius, we use the poo (flower) as the alangaram.
However, in addition to flowers, other elements can also be used.
This gave rise to the idea of dried beans and spices such as cardamom (elaiti) known as dhanya alangaram to implore prosperity and abundance in our lives.

Alangaram is an art.
But tradition is even more important.

We would like to thank all those who have given us their support and confidence to make this project a reality.
Particularly Jsr Murthi , without whom this would not have been possible.

For this naming ceremony, being a baby girl, we decided upon a blend of traditional and boho chic decor; with pink, peach and white as our color pallet.
We went more rustic with the cradle just to enhance this particular element of the set up.

Kalyanam Concept where traditional and modern concepts merge sublimely.
Traditional South Indian culture is the basis of our vision.
With this concept of Dasavathaaram,
we aimed at promoting our rich culture.
The evolution of life on earth is so well explained through Mahavishnu and his ten avataram. Starting life as a fish through amphibious life, moving to mammals and finally human beings.
All this has been carved in stone over milennials.
We should some verses of Subrapatham; referring to the prayers that are sung at dawn in praise of the Lord to awaken the divinity present within each one.
