Another monochrome art session with these two cuties!

Again, I was given the skeptical look when I told them they could only use ONE colour 🤣

My heart is full as I get to have sessions with these kids after many, many weeks!

We did a DIY Family Portrait craft together and look at how it all turned out!

Hugs and smiles from these kids are priceless 💕 Thank you for having me over, kids!

It's been a while since I conducted a session due to my kids hectic schedule and today, I got the opportunity to have one with this little cutie-pie!

As usual, for first sessions, I like to start with a resist painting artwork to gauge the child's tolerance to mess, following instructions, sense of confidence in doing their own thing etc.

Looking forward to starting up most of my regular classes again!

Monochromatic Art session!

The girls were taken aback when I said they could only choose ONE colour, alongside white & black, for this particular activity.

But look at how it turned out!! This was just an introduction for them; how to shade it darker, tint it lighter. I look forward to extending this to a more well-planned artwork for them. Woohoo!

Craft of the week: Popsicle Stick Pot Sleeves

Started with them having to arrange the sticks nicely one by one, before painting and finally decorating it with some stickers and cutouts.

Love looking at their adorable fingers trying to arrange the sticks nicely. Some got upset along the way because it wasn't "perfect" but eventually, they decided to "stick" with it (pun intended! 😀😀)

The sweetest, most wonderful message I received recently from a graduating student.

2 years ago, I started to teach part-time at . Teaching and handling children has always been a part of me but this time, it was different because I was putting myself as the figure that will introduce Islamic knowledge to my students. The weight of that responsibility, to me, felt monumental. Took me a while to merge my usual teaching style in this new field of knowledge.

Eventually, I realised that it wouldn't be any different after all.

Teaching and learning ANYTHING are meant to be FUN.

So that's what I did and I love every moment.

My students may not be a hafidz or hafidzah (yet) but I am assured that they will grow up and say "my early Islamic education was fun!"

Alhamdulillah.

After an awesome adults session, I decided to bring the challenge to my student and see what he will come up with.
The challenge was to draw anything freely BUT with 2 conditions: a circle in the centre and borders around the canvas.
I was expecting something with a sun or flower or a generic image but nope! A decided he wanted to draw a football scene with the soccer ball being in the centre with the whole stadium scene in it!

It's amazing what one can create when the freedom of creativity is given!

For our recent Islamic sessions, we looked at the first surah that was revealed to our Prophet SAW. During the first class, kids were introduced to the recitation and the story behind the revelation. For the second session, we did a DIY Lapbook for Surah Al-'Alaq, compkete with fun facts and things we can learn from it!

Parents can use this as a fun storytime with their kids or even just for them to revisit the things that they have learned.

After a looong break for these kids, it was nice to reconnect with them and let them let loose in their own creativity. Even the cool big bro wanted to join in the fun!

We did a lesson on Art Parody and created ours from the Mona Lisa portrait and we also had fun crafting a keepsake trophy for all the knick knacks that Mom don't let us keep 😉

Always a joyful time with the 3As. Till the next session!

**Solemnisation ceremony and wedding reception of Dr Zehan & Dr Shahir**

As an emcee, I always bring myself to play the role as a representative for the client. If it's a corporate event, I shall be the face of the company. In this case, for a wedding, I am a PART of the family. Not only do I make sure that the event goes smoothly, I will also greet guests and ask them if the food is ok, how was their drive to the venue, where are they from and so on.

So, understandably, I get repeatedly asked "Ni anak siapa? Tak pernah nampak"; because people assumed I'm a long lost relative who didn't visit during Hari Raya. LOL.

But i like it. It builds connection and that's what I do as an emcee; I run the show and I connect with everyone.

May Allah continue to provide me with this capability and energy to do what I love and earn for my children. Amin.

TONING THE CANVAS

A quick lesson about toning the canvas and we started with the simplest project; painting the moon!

Looks easy? Try telling that to these kids who found it difficult to just let the paint look uneven and blotchy! They all wanted to spread the paint smoothly! 🤣

All praises due to Him. I am so grateful to finally being able to pull this off! Thank you to the wonderful people for saying YES to me and the wonderful kids at SEMOA Education Centre at Kg Tras, Bentong.

I visited them with a friend in Jan 2024 and after meeting them, I promised myself, I MUST come back and do something beneficial for them. The caretaker, Tia, said they are in need of some confidence boosting especially in terms of communicating and speaking up. So I contacted a few people but everyone had to say no because of the initial date I proposed. Accepting this setback, I decided to reschedule and alhamdulillah, not only did I get volunteers, I also got industry EXPERTS to come along!

So the primary students got the chance to experience some theatrical games and activities with Teacher May and myself, while the secondary kids were drilled with tips and inputs from "cikgu-cikgu" , and . As for the SPM Graduates, Cikgu conducted a phototherapy session to encourage them to speak up and also shared valuable words of wisdom with them. It was fun lah becoming cikgu-cikgu for a day 😄!

We all chipped in to bring some snacks and food for our break time. Towards the end of the program, Tia couldn't stop thanking me and all the kids had so so SO much fun.

This centre receives NO funds from the government but survives purely on contributions and sponsors from companies, NGOs and kind individuals. As an eye opening fact for everyone, the kids are all there voluntarily because of one thing: to get a better education and improve their livelihood.

I hope YOU, will be inspired to do something good for your community too. It may seem impossible at first but good intention attracts good people. With them, you can definitely bring a positive impact to the greater deserving communities.

To more charity projects like this in the future. InshaaAllah.

A crafty birthday party: DIY Paper Dolls at Sanrio Boutique!!
I think it was a hit! All the kids enjoyed colouring their own paper dolls and went "shopping" for the outfits that I had painstakingly cut one by one 😆 Boy, was it worth it!

Told ya this will be on repeat! Love the creativity that emerged from this activity. A simple but very open-ended activity which allows the children to explore their own imagination and creativity to create their own map.

Of course, burning the edges of their paper was the highlight for them hahaha!

* safety precautions were definitely in place 😉
