Last week, we had two seperate orders for desserts

Here is what we've been up to this past week.
We delivered a total of 45 boxes of our newly launched fish cutlets. We set out to sell only 10 boxes 😄. We will do one more week of this cutlets and close for August. Each box has 10 cutlets and is priced at an introductory price of RM15 per box.

Other items we did included 2 corporate orders and a few birthday functions.

My most demanding client ever, wanted mini chicken burgers, pasta Bolognese in cups and fresh fruit tarts. My daughter celebrated her 9th birthday in school and wanted to treat her classmates to a small party in school.

We are introducing our frozen fish cutlets to our frozen food range. These hand rolled cutlets are made with real potatoes and steamed tenggiri slabs. Not spicy but high on flavours of coriander, mint, cumin and other spices. My kids love them. We do not use MSG, artificial flavouring nor food colouring. It just takes 6 minutes to have yummy fried cutlets that goes well with rice dishes, breakfast or like how I have packed them for my kids lunch box (with some homemade Fries and Veggie sticks)

Each box comes with 10 cutlets. Introduction price is RM15 per box and our promotion will run till mid August for this. Buy along with our frozen patties for more than RM180 and get delivery for RM5 (within klang valley). Deliveries will start from Monday July 31 onwards. Orders takes 3 to 5 days after payment to be on the delivery route.

The absolute fulfilment in the food business is when it makes someone's day. A daughter who is far from her father wanted something delightful for his birthday. It was his first birthday away from her. It meant a lot for the daughter to make her father happy. One of the awesome thing about the catering business is that other than at times having the opportunity to go wild with a menu is getting a client who dares to delve into new territories. One such client was Ms Chris who ordered a western vegetarian fare for her mother in law who organised a Hindu prayer session in her home. Who says prayers and vegetarian food need to be confined to idli, ponggal or chickpeas (though I throughly love these too).

Success lies just outside of one's comfort zone. I would have never thought that I'd be doing any large catering post my semi retirement, which was a direct result of ceasing the contract of my long term helper. But on Monday, we delivered snacks for 350 pax for KLOOK. If you had asked me before, if I'd even think of catering for 350pax, with my helper, I would have said it was impossible. But apparently, not. Here is what we served. The client wanted a clean vegan menu for snacks

The one dish that set me apart from the rest, when I first dabbled into catering, while holding my corporate job, was this Spicy Chettinadu Mutton. I would have easily cooked 500kgs of these over the years.

Why is this Mutton dish different from the rest you may ask. This is an age old recipe that does not use any form of masala sans the usage of turmeric. Its spice level comes entirely from the dried chili that is used generously in this dish with lots of sliced onions and ginger and garlic. Cooked for 2 hours on the stove top, it is SPICY, TENDER, JUICY and satisfying. I love it with just plain white rice.

This Saturday I am opening orders for this dish for lunch.

Delivery is RM12 per stop (PJ, Bangsar, Subang, USJ, Sungai Buloh) or free if you are in Bandar Seri Coalfields. This dish freezes well and can be kept in the freezer for 3 months so it works well at emergencies or too-tired-to-cook days.

Is processed food always bad? Not necessarily. You see, at the base level a peeled and cut Apple, in your kid's lunch box, is in essence processed food. So not all processed food is bad, you just have to spend a little time understanding what you are buying, serving and consuming.

Now let me reintroduce my burger patties to you. Are they processed? Sure they are but they are processed with other food; meaning every particle that is put into making a VJmade patty is natural and not synthetically produced - No Nasties. Each patty that weighs 100gm contains 80% meat and the balance is made up of breadcrumbs, spices, herbs, pink salt, pepper and dairy.

The recommended intake for meat, especially red meat is 70g of cooked meat or 500gm per week. So a singular VJmade's lamb patty for example, accompanied by salad is enough for a good meal. Add, burger buns, some pickle, cheese, tomatoes and lettuce, to make a great feasting, without fear.

Kids love love our Chicken Nuggets made from sliced chicken breast, marinated in our special Marinate and coated with delicious crumb base priced at RM16 per pack of 12.

Both patties and nuggets are good to be kept frozen for 3 month. For the month of June 2023 we are offering a flat rate of RM5 per stop for any orders above RM120. This will be group delivery as such time will be fixed according to the route. Any special delivery can still be made according to 3rd party rates. Delivery will start June 6th onwards and will cover klang Valley for the above price and a reduced price rate for Cheras/Kajang/Semenyih/Putrajaya/Cyberjaya.

I have learnt that, the root of happiness lies in being grateful. I am grateful for every opportunity that has been presented to me.
