The "Epic" Event!! Badagry is once again ready to show-case their world heritage sites, culture and revered grounds with all Africans in Africa & Diasporas and rest of the world. The Epic Event called “THE BADAGRY FESTIVAL 2012” is coming-up from 17th – 25th AUGUST 2012. The people
of BADAGRY have for centuries preserved over 400years of history, heritage and accomplishments. The buildings, sites and memories of this iniquitous period are kept so the tourists and African children can see the impact of this era. Places of interest include the Palace of the Akran of Badagry and its mini ethnographic museum, the early missionaries cemetery, the District Officer's Office and Residence, the First Storey Building in Nigeria constructed by the Anglican missionaries, relics of slave chains in the mini museum of slave trade, cannons of war, the Vlekte slave Market, and the Slave Port established for the shipment of slaves before the l6th century. For 11years the AFRICAN RENAISSANCE FOUNDATION (AREFO) has been organizing the BADAGRY FESTIVALS, but this time the vision is farther and being re-packaged in firm partnership with GTONE ENTERTAINMENT to be the greatest Epic Event of the decade. The world and all Africans in Africa and Diaspora are welcome to this Grand Cultural Festival. It will feature the most magnificent Traditional/cultural displays and stunts the world has never seen before... each region/village will demonstrate their potentials in competitive native acrobatic stunts, Traditional water displays in colorful and well organized procession. All Events will take place at different grounds within the same very old ancient city called BADAGRY for 8 days. Within the same period; there will be a unique 7 days’ musical and art African Rendezvous Redemption gala nights. A night-after-night Party: featuring world renowned Reggae, Pop, Jazz, Rap, R&B, Afro-beat Musicians from many parts of the world and Africa. All event plans are being worked-out to accommodate various activities within our stipulated plans and strategies. Global publicity is already in gear to create the much needed awareness
It is in Badagry the highest 'business" of slave trade took place, spanning even over 400years. The Spaniards, Americas, British, Portuguese etc pioneered it. They penetrated all nooks and crannies of Africa, especially West Africa to carry-out their nefarious business activities and practice: just to keep their country's economy and industrial progression going, the only way they thought possible was to come down to a real good people of Africa, exploit them and maneuvered their intellect in means of introducing dynamics to their lives... so they believed and welcomed them ...the rest is history...
We have come a long way now to look back only in pains of this evil back then; we have resolved within in consonance with fellow resonating deep-rooted, energetic, mindful, focused, dynamic, creative, liberal and God fearing individuals and group to stamp-out this stigma on Africa. We can re-build our minds; we can re-build our structures; we can take back our lives; we are ready to assimilate our people back home again. Though it takes a lot of time and mental energy etc but we shall succeed!! Security is paramount: in this regards we have contract with modern firms that will provide state-of-the-art security equipments and man-power to cover all perimeters of the event and different locations. AREFO and GTONE ENTERTAINMENT are working with the Government on an extra special arrangement to provide adequate security and safety within the Badagry city and Lagos State in general within the period of the event. We are working to provide even better hospitality to all our guests. Transportation network coverage (land and water ways) is paramount and all strategies will be in-place. We are already making arrangements with partner hotels for accreditation; all this will be ready in latest by 30th of April 2012. We understand our visitors needs to plan their August vacation, therefore we shall conclude all arrangements and publish it in order for them to have due information and make their travel plans comfortably from their various locations. The redemption started very long ago handed down from generation to generation; ours is on the road of creation according to divine providence and inspirations. LIVE AFRICA! The world is looking at Africa today; Africa it’s your time!! Our forefathers lived and created many inventions by themselves; come to BADAGRY FESTIVAL 2012 and see things for your self! There is no revenge or acrimony; but in reverse, to call to mind the various challenges that the African people has been through, and to re-invent the African spirit against the popular believe of human chauvinism and naivete as if noting good comes from Africa; but in contrary; it must be well understood that Africans has been and still very adventurous in most important fields of human achievements development and creativeness. Our original history can prove all this... Africans cannot fully develop in isolation; “all the various branches of the same tree must feed from the original root of that same tree”.
