5 Lessons I Learned From The Book ‘As a Man Thinketh’

1) You Become What You Think

You are what you are right now because of the thoughts you once had or have. If you want to change yourself, you should first start with changing your thoughts. All the actions of man arise from the hidden seeds of thoughts.

Just with the right choice and application of thought, man can ascend to divine perfection; while with wrong choice and application of thought, he can rise below the level of the beast.

Good thoughts and results can never produce bad results; bad thoughts and actions can never produce good results.

2)Your Mind is Like a Garden

The author creates an analogy of our mind with the garden. We either choose to cultivate our mind wisely or let it run wild. If we don’t plant the seeds of beautiful flowers in our garden, the garden will itself produce some useless weeds.

Just as the gardener weeds out all unnecessary plants it is the responsibility of every individual to plant the right seeds, nurture them, and at the same time put out all the weeds. When we do this, our life becomes beautiful. But if we do the exact opposite and feed the weeds, our life becomes a mess.

3) Thoughts Not Just Affect Mentally, But Also Physically
How and what we think has a significant impact not just on the mental level but also physical level. The body is the servant of mind and it obeys the order of mind be it deliberately chosen or automatically expressed.

The author argues that the people who live in constant fear of disease are the ones who actually get it. Therefore being healthy is not just about the body, it’s also more about the mind.

Change of diet will not help a man who will not change his thoughts.

Thoughts also affect how we age. If we just pause for a second and observe the people around us, we can see people in their nineties with bright smiling faces. But we also can see the people who are just in their mid-thirties whose face is drawn into unharmonious contours.

4)You Are Not Shaped by Your Circumstances

If you believe you can’t get something just because you came from a different background or because your environment doesn’t support you, you are wrong my friend. You are not shaped by the circumstances rather the outer world of circumstances shapes itself into the inner world of your thoughts.

No matter what the circumstances are, you always have the freedom to choose how to respond. And the best response is always to choose to focus on the areas you have control of. When you focus on what you have control over and improve that way, you win in life.

Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they, therefore, remain bound.

5)Actions And Thoughts Must Go Together

The knowledge preached by some of the self-help gurus about thoughts is that you will achieve whatever you think if you just believe it. This is also represented as a law of attraction and the idea is sold to many people.

James Allen, who is also considered as the pioneer of the self-help movement was clear that just having thoughts are not enough. Thoughts are just the starting point. And if we don’t harmonize our thoughts with the right actions, we will never accomplish what we are set to.

Just wishing for things and waiting for them to come to you will not help you in any way. You must go out, take action and earn it, whatever it is you want.

𝟏𝟎 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐎𝐟 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 "𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 & 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐡" -𝐍𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐥

“Think & Grow Rich” is one of the top universally recognized personal development masterpieces of Napoleon Hill.

To put it in simple terms, you can become anything that your mind believes is possible;

as a result, your mind becomes the one thing that can stop you or push you toward becoming the best of yourself.

There are only 10 lessons from "Think & Grow Rich" for any person to acquire a destiny and find real success.

1. Desire
Napoleon Hill describes in his book "Think & Grow Rich", everything starts with a desire. How badly you want something in your life.

You would not have the desire that you have unless you were capable of achieving it.

But it is your burning desire that is simply an accurate picture of what you will become.

But your desire has to be a burning desire. And when you decide to achieve your desire.

Therefore, in a way, desire is the one stage that links thoughts and actions together:

Thoughts → Commitment (or Desire) → Action

“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”

And this is regardless of how many times you have failed in the past.

2. Faith
Faith is the solid expectation of things hoped for, the visible demonstration of the power of your thoughts and feelings.

You can create the impossible through faith.

But negative thoughts of anger, hatred, or jealousy will kill any benefit of having faith.

Therefore you have to have a positive attitude about whatever it is you want to achieve.

When you believe in yourself and in your dreams, you can achieve anything.

3. Auto Suggestion
This is the ability to focus your mind on your burning desire so much that your subconscious mind accepts it as fact.

Autosuggestion is a suggestion/affirmation by yourself, to yourself.

Write down your goal and desire and repeat it with positive attitude that becomes a reality of life.

4. Specialized Knowledge
Now we know Thoughts = Desire = Action

Never stop acquiring specialized skill related to your major purpose, business, or profession.

Those who are not successful usually believe that once you finish school then acquiring knowledge has ended.

The truth is that all schooling does is to help you in the way of learning how to acquire practical knowledge.

You need to keep on learning and improving your knowledge and action plan to achieve your desire.

5. Imagination
“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”

And this is regardless of how many times you have failed in the past.

You have to develop the power of self-motivation and the best way to do that is through imagination.

Imagination gives clarity and self-motivation of the action towards your plan.

6. Organized Planning
I always talk about how much-organized planning is required when it comes to being efficient.

The book "Think & Grow Rich" also mentioned that to achieve your goal you have to be organized and plan your activities in a way that leads you to success.

7. Decision
Procrastination is the opposite of a decision and is the enemy of everyone desiring success.

All successful people make decisions very fast, but they change them very slowly.

And all unsuccessful people make decisions very slowly and change them fast and often.

Draw your life plan and put across things you need to focus on to achieve things in your life.

It may be a habit, learning, or decision-making skills.

The faster you can decide to not put up with people whose aim is just that of bringing you and your dreams down the better.

8. Persistence
Persistence is the one quality that you must have in order to become successful.

It is the main part of a person’s character that separates those who do not achieve from the achievers.

So many of us give up right before success.

But when you learn persistence and the concepts of decision, you can push forward to the award of victory.

9. Power of the Mastermind
A mastermind group is a group of two people who support one another in attaining their goals, plans, and dreams.

It is a group of people who are sympathetic to your desire.

They can help you to excite your mind for new thoughts and keep pushing.

10. The Subconscious Mind
"Think & Grow Rich" mentions that the subconscious part of your brain is like an archive/storage: it receives and contains your thoughts and impressions, regardless of their nature. It can solve our problems if we go about it the right way.

Your brain is the most marvelous, miraculous, and powerful force the world has ever known.

The mind is designed to help you to bring to you everything that you want. Use it for what it was intended for.

Lao Tzu Quotes For Traders

The name Lao Tzu is translated as “Old Master.” He was thought to be a historical figure in ancient China and a philosopher and writer. He is believed to be the author of the Tao Te Ching, the founder of Taoism as a philosophy, and even a deity in some of the more fundamentalist Taoism that is a religion.

His wisdom is ageless and many of his quotes can be applied to modern day traders and investors.

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” – Lao Tzu

Success in trading or investing takes time, energy, study, and effort and the only way to begin is to start working on your process today. Keep working on each step required to be a successful trader, one by one, and keep moving closer to your goal every day.

The steps to successful trading are:

1. Watchlist
2. TimeFrame
3. Backtesting
4. Diversification for markets & signals
5. Positions sizing
6. Max risk exposure
7. Drawdown risk tolerance
8. Win%
9. Risk/reward ratio
10. Return estimate

“Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power.” – Lao Tzu

You may be clever if you know how other traders and investors behave in the market, but knowing how you will act under stress is even smarter. Mastering technical analysis will do little to make you money if you can’t master your own emotions, ego, and self control to follow your own system.

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” – Lao Tzu

You can’t predict or control how the market moves, fighting a trend or volatility only loses capital. Trade what is happening, go with the flow of least resistance if you want to make money.

“A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.” – Lao Tzu

Don’t get stubborn about a trade and don’t try to predict how it will turn out. If your stop loss is triggered take the small loss, if it starts moving in your favor let it run until your trailing stop or profit target is triggered.

“Those who know do not speak. Those who speak do not know.” – Lao Tzu

Talking heads on financial television don’t know the future, if anyone does know, they aren’t going to tell you.

“The best fighter is never angry.” – Lao Tzu

The best traders and investors never let anger change their trading strategy.

“If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.” – Lao Tzu

If you are depressed you are focused on a past losing trade. If you are stressed you are focused on how a future trade will turn out. If you are at peace you’re open to however your current trade turns out.

“A man with outward courage dares to die; a man with inner courage dares to live.” – Lao Tzu

A trader that wants to look like a big shot trades large and risks blowing up their account. A trader that wants to grow a big account manages their position sizing and avoids the risk of ruin so they can survive.

“Do you have the patience to wait until your mud settles and the water is clear?” – Lao Tzu

Traders must have the patience to wait for their own clear trading signal to enter or exit and avoid the noise of meaningless price action and volatility.

“Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream. Water them with optimism and solutions and you will cultivate success. Always be on the lookout for ways to turn a problem into an opportunity for success. Always be on the lookout for ways to nurture your dream.” – Lao Tzu

Be careful what thoughts you let into your belief system as they can take you off track from your goals. Worry and fear are not tools for accomplishing your goals they are destroyers. Focus your mind on optimism and solving problems to reach success. Problems turn into opportunities when you focus on the lesson they contain. Visualize what you want until you have it.

"Everyone makes mistakes."
I just had to start with that.
I am tired of people trying so hard to be perfect or present an appearance of perfection.
Even the pictures on Instagram ain't perfect either...

My point is, to stop beating yourself up because of your imperfection or because you made a mistake.
"We are in this mess because of what you did" we always hear.
Are we not tired of saying that, are we going to continue to let a mistake that was done years ago ruin our lives?

Mistakes were done, we get it. It's time to pick the lessons from those mistakes and move on. Trading blames won't help.

You made a move that you thought was the best move at the time. You were wrong, it was a mistake and you have blamed yourself every day since then.
I am saying, stop blaming yourself, learn the lesson and infuse same into the next chapter of your life.

Do not let your past mistakes stop your next chapter. It is time to forgive yourself.

The first step of living an authentic life is listening to what your heart is trying to tell you ✨ Have you ever experienced that feeling in your heart when you know that something in your life is not quite right? Maybe you’re not completely happy with how things are right now or you’re constantly holding onto this hope that things won’t always be this way because you know you’re destined for so much more. It’s easy to ignore that feeling and pretend everything is okay, and continue existing in your life as it is but I don’t think it ever really goes away unless you do something about it, unless you make a change. Let this be your sign. That feeling is telling you something that you already know, follow that feeling to where it’s trying to take you.

Words from an upcoming book releasing soon ✨

In Ancient Greece, Socrates had a great reputation of wisdom. One day, someone came to find the great philosopher and said to him:
- Do you know what I just heard about your friend?
- A moment, replied Socrates. Before you tell me, I would like to test you the three sieves.
- The three sieves?
- Yes, continued Socrates. Before telling anything about the others, it's good to take the time to filter what you mean. I call it the test of the three sieves. The first sieve is the TRUTH. Have you checked if what you're going to tell me is true?
- No, I just heard it.
- Very good! So, you don't know if it's true. We continue with the second sieve, that of KINDNESS. What you want to tell me about my friend, is it good?
- Oh, no! On the contrary.
- So, questioned Socrates, you want to tell me bad things about him and you're not even sure they're true? Maybe you can still pass the test of the third sieve, that of UTILITY. Is it useful that I know what you're going to tell me about this friend?
- No, really.
- So, concluded Socrates, what you were going to tell me is neither true, nor good, nor useful. Why, then, did you want to tell me this?
"Gossip is a bad thing. In the beginning it may seem enjoyable and fun, but in the end, it fills our hearts with bitterness and poisons us, too!"

hard pills to swallow:

i) you overlook your happiness each day. you follow the beliefs of people you have known, gazing in the same direction as they have, but you forget that it won't make their happiness yours simply because you are not the same as them. of course, it will take you somewhere and maybe that will help you find your way but it can't guarantee you anything. you sit and wonder what it takes to be happy but you always forget about the little things around you that make your heart glow even in the darkest nights. the roses in your garden, the squirrels that sit on your window in winter mornings, the view outside your window, the smile from a stranger on the train, the familiar touch of someone when you have fever, the warmth of a hug, the small acts of consideration that your friends show, the three little words from the ones who love you on a night when you are feeling too lonely. yes, i understand the need to find some great kind of happiness in the form of a career or stability but i hope you don't overlook the things that are there for you everyday. i hope you don't let yourself be too lonely and fight your battles alone when there is a world outside your room that can bring out that soft feeling of comfort. i hope you let the things that make you happy cheer you up on your worst days.

ii) everybody has the same heart as you, yet everybody loves differently. even if you try to force your existence on somebody, you can't be special to them. someday you will accept that maybe you have to stop trying too hard to please someone who can't appreciate you for who you are.

iii) yes, pain is necessary for growth but it doesn't make you who you are. you are not you because of your trauma or your sadness or the heartbreaks that you had to suffer all alone. you are you because of the efforts you made to heal yourself. you are you because you picked yourself up when nobody else did, because you took care of your heart and body, because even when you cried to sleep, you were the one who massaged your eyes with cold ice cubes and made soup for yourself to make you feel okay again. don't give pain so much credit. you are here only because of your choices and determination.

iv) nobody knows you the way you know yourself. they might know parts of you but don't let them invalidate you so easily. don't let yourself crumble at the words of people who have known nothing about your pain, the life you have lived, the different people you have become before meeting them. yes, it's absolutely necessary to question yourself every now and then and realize our own shortcomings but don't let anyone weaponize them and make you feel small for it. you can always grow and become the person you want to be, even if you aren't your best right now. don't let someone else tell you that this is all you can be because as long as you are alive, you will have the potential to become.

v) people change and there is nothing you can do about it. you will find your parents resent you even when you thought it was the only unconditional love. you will have to bear the heartbreak of seeing the person you love fall out of love with you. you will see the best of friendships break because of a mere fight or someone you have known your entire life turning into a stranger before you can realize it. you view people as your parents, or friends, or lovers but at the end of the day, they are all just humans like you. they aren't just the relationship you share with them. they are much more. they are their own person and no matter how much you'd like them to be there for you, it is not something you can control. you will have to accept it; there is no other way to survive this agony. it will be heartbreaking and it will make you trust people less but i hope you still give people chances because they, too, have the same capacity to love like you. and the people who broke your heart, you will have to put some distance between you and them. you will have to give yourself some space so that you can heal and grow. there will be times when you will know that you love them dearly and yet, you cannot forgive them. it's okay, you don't have to. there are some relationships that are hard to break. you can still get far from them and make a family for yourself somewhere else, in a place where there will be some sense of belonging. we don't always get what we want and things turn out differently than expected. that's okay. all we have to do is to remember to never give up on things we truly want. there will be a day when we will make it through.

WHEN YOU'RE YOUNG, TRY TO EARN AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, BUT DON'T TRADE EVERYTHING FOR MONEY

Every time I go to the hospital, I am most tired of the scene where people crowd together to get numbers and wait 3-4 hours to get test results. From this experience, money is placed in a more important place in my concern. I accept spending a little more for better services or medical tourism, trading cash for comfort and time.

I work in education and community, and in this field, money is considered less important than spiritual value, intellectual value and many other values. However, my opinion has always been: "Only when I can support my life can I support others' lives".

With money, you can freely go to the supermarket to buy organic foods to improve your health without worrying about the price. With cash, you can rent or buy a better house. With money, you can take care of yourself and your loved ones more comfortably, such as in medical treatments.

For these reasons, when I read the article "WHY IS IT ALWAYS ALWAYS ENOUGH TO EARN SO MUCH?" I wanted to share some of my views. The paragraphs in quotation marks are the original article; the sections below are my views.

1. Love may not need money, but marriage is different!

"That year, I was 23 years old, and I went to my girlfriend's house for the first time to meet her parents. They prepared a feast for us. The atmosphere was too formal, and I felt a little shy. After some drinks, her father suddenly asked a question, first on unrelated topics, and then the story changed: "When are you going to buy a house?"

Sitting next to me, her mother also casually said that the future son-in-law of her friend had already bought an apartment with three small bedrooms, a spacious kitchen and a living room. I'm speechless and clueless on how to reply because all I was thinking in my head was my $400 salary each month. After that, the atmosphere became so tense that I rushed my eating to finish, then used the excuse that the company had an unexpected business and had to return during the day.

A week later, I called my girlfriend and broke up peacefully. She cried and begged me to stay, but I still turned my back and left without regret. It's not that I'm cruel; I'm beginning to understand that love may not require money, but marriage is different. Money is one of the factors that determine the stability of marriage".

=> In terms of finances in a relationship, I quite agree. To say that there is no longer "marriage based on only love" today seems a bit extreme, but perhaps this ratio is not much. A relationship is difficult to "romantic" when the first urgent need still needs to be taken care of is money. However, I'm afraid I have to disagree with how the guy acts in the following story. At the very least, talk to his partner and see her point of view - is there a way to work together? It's selfish of him to make such a decision.

2. Life stability only comes when you have enough money and family's support

"When I turned 26, I finally had some savings. I worked hard, waking up early and working overtime until dawn. My salary tripled. When I felt I had enough money to buy a new house, I decided to buy it. Over the past three years, I have changed and moved to a new city.

Thanks to the introduction, I went to see a few apartments which fit my interests. But when I asked for the price, I was dumbfounded; recently, house prices have gone up so fast. I walked home and thought I should wait for house prices to drop. But the more I waited, the more the price would go up. Ultimately, I decided, "It is time to settle it down. I can't wait any longer." I called my family, borrowed a small amount of savings from my parents, borrowed a little more from the bank, and through my relationships, I contacted friends and close relatives to borrow enough money. Three days later, I finally bought my first house. It was a great moment."

=> This is probably true – I think that deciding to buy a house and prepare for your marriage is crucial in everybody's life, so you only do it when you are ready. Don't base on only a "feeling of stability" or "the advice of the people around you" or "the time has come" to force yourself.
You will regret it later if you decide to marry someone you don't love or borrow a lot to get "your own house".

3. "Stable income" is significant

"Only three months left until I turned 28, I officially lost my job. It is passive unemployment, and the company only compensates a little bit. Once again, I started my journey to find a new job. At that moment, I suddenly realized that after 30, it is more difficult to find a job than before. Either the salary is too low, or the requirements are too high. In addition, there is a large number of recent college graduates waiting for interviews. After paying my mortgage, I didn't have a dime left in my pocket. Luckily, I finally found a new job before the age of 28. Although the workplace is far from where I live, at least everything looks promising."

=> In addition to the stability and gradual increase of salary, expand your financial stability through other forms such as:

- Save an amount to spend on force majeure cases.
- Buying insurance. It is a way to have savings for your health.
- Think about personal branding and passive income generation.

4. When you're young, make a lot of money

Yes, try to make money. But don't trade it all for cash. Don't spend nights and days just focusing on earning more while neglecting your loving ones and ignoring your health. What's the use of money? Isn't it to give us health and time to spend with our loved ones?

*OJUKWU'S SPEECH FROM IVORY COAST*

Three days ago I left the Republic of Biafra with certain members of my Cabinet as a result of a decision taken by that Cabinet in the interest of our people's survival.

Since my departure events have moved with such breathless speed that friends and foe alike have been left not only bewildered but confused.

It is therefore necessary for me to address these words to the international press in order to keep the records right, and in pursuit of the object of my leaving the Republic of Biafra.

It is necessary in order to understand events that have led to the drama of the past few days to look back at the origin of our conflict and conduct in this war.

Biafra, once the eastern region of Nigeria, was one of three sovereignties that banded together to form the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Three of the reasons which made the sovereignties bind themselves together were:

1. Mutual protection of life and property - hence the fundamental human rights entrenched in our constitution and the arrangements made for the joint control of the police.

2. Security against external and internal threats -hence the responsibility of the central Government for defence.

3. The promotion of international trade and good relations with foreign countries - hence the assignment of exclusive responsibility to the central Government.

During the course of our first experiment in nationhood it was clear that the Federal Organization had neither the will nor the desire to maintain that unity of purpose for which the Federation was founded.

In 1966 it became clear that the central authority was unable and unwilling to fulfil the terms for which it was established.

Right under her nose the people of Eastern Nigeria, now Biafrans, were subjected to such acts of barbarism, such atrocities that gave clear indication of a genocide that was to come.

The people of Biafra, in full consultation and believing that the only guarantee for security lay in the resumption of the sovereignty, mandated me to proclaim their territory the sovereign and independent Republic of Biafra, and to take up arms if need be to protect the lives and property of our people and the independence was thus proclaimed.

On July 6, 1967, the Federal forces crossed the boundaries of Biafra and attacked her defenseless populace.

Our people, in the face of such aggression, had no alternative but to defend themselves as best they could. The war that ensued has continued from that day with unabated fury until today when we find that, because of certain limitations, we are no longer able to offer formal military resistance to the Nigerian aggressors.

For three years we have fought against overwhelming odds.

Our conduct of the war has contrasted sharply with that of the Nigerian hordes.

We were always aware of our limitation, and therefore have never discontinued out efforts for peace and a negotiated settlement.

We had relied on the conscience of the world to respect the rights of our people to self-determination and security. We have been frustrated by an international conspiracy against the interest of the African. Yet, believing in the justice of our cause and the ultimate triumph of truth over falsehood, outnumbered and outgunned, we have grimly held back the unrelenting enemy for three grueling years with our bare hands.

Nigeria began her recent final offensive against Biafra in October 1969 after months of preparations, which included the starvation of our entire populace to such sub-human level that the movement of enemy troops through our territory became a mere formality. For months we cried to an unsympathetic world, pointing out the danger of a total blockade and siege warfare at this stage of world civilization. In answer to that cry our people were further subjected to more deprivation by the drastic reduction of relief supplies, not only to the menfolk but to our women and children, to the aged and the very young, to the old and the infirm.

By the end of November the Biafra armed forces were no longer able to feed themselves; our civil populace were neither able to feed themselves nor the army. Yet over 30 months our gallant and heroic forces maintained their positions in the sheer hope of a miraculous respite. In the first week of January, the Nigerian forces, by a fast military move, took control of the last areas from where we had any possibility of obtaining food. In quick succession demoralization set in, threatening national disintegration and bringing in its wake confusion and mass exodus.

I gathered together at Owerri during the night of January 8, 1970, those members of my Cabinet who could be contacted to review the situation. At that meeting I presented in firm and clear terms the grim hopelessness of continued formal military resistance.

I informed the Cabinet that my primary duty in the circumstances was to seek the protection of our

exhausted people and to save the leadership of our heroic republic. I therefore offered to go out of Biafra myself in search of peace.

I decided personally to lead any delegation in order to give it maximum effect and to speed up matters in order to save the lives of our people and preserve the concept of Biafra.

I did this knowing that whilst I live Biafra lives.

If I am no more it would be only a matter of time for the noble concept to be swept into oblivion.

I chose for the delegation the following persons: Dr. M.I. Ọkpara, my political adviser; Mr. N.U. Akpan, my Chief Secretary; Major-general Madiebo, the commander of my army.

In the fluid and uncertain military circumstances the Cabinet considered it advisable and reasonable that families of envoys in or going abroad should be sent out.

My last hours in Biafra before my departure were spent in close consultation with Major-general Philip Effiong, whom I had appointed to administer the Government in my absence, and his last request to me was to take out his family and to maintain them under my protection, I agreed.

Since the departure of the delegation from Biafra, we have remained faithful to our mandate. We have made contacts with friends and men of goodwill. We have spared no efforts to mobilize all forces in an effort to take food into Biafra on a gigantic scale.

We have taken steps to alert the world to the real fears of genocide at the hands of the Nigerians.

Nigeria's continuing efforts have always been directed at domesticating the conflict in order to apply the final solution to the Biafran problem away from the glare of an inquisitive world.

From all indications it is clear that Nigeria will not feed our people. They have said so often enough, and their past records clearly underling this fact.

There is no food whatsoever in Biafra and unless food can get into Biafran mouths in the next 72 hours it will be too late.

Nigeria's insistence to control the distribution of relief is both to ensure that Biafrans get no such relief, and also to shut out outsiders who mightw witness and expose the enormous crimes she plans to commit against our people.

Nigeria throughout this war has distinguished herself for a lack of control over her armed forces. It is therefore most unlikely that, flushed with an intoxication of unexpected military victory, she will be able to exercise any measure of control on her forces now on the rampage.

In any case Nigeria's aim is to destroy the elite of Biafra. The only possible way of preventing such a catastrophe is by interposing between the contesting forces some neutral force to prevent a genocide that would make 1939-45 Europe a mere child's play. We have always believed in the futility of this war.

We have always maintained that this war will solve no problems. If this carnage must stop, Nigerian leaders and their friends must borrow a leaf from the lessons of the last world war, where it was found that a permanent settlement could only emerge from an honourable peace.

Immediate efforts should therefore be directed towards early negotiations for peace without exacting full tribute of conquest. Only in this way can peace which the whole world desires have any chance. I therefore appeal to all governments and international organizations, countries and churches of the world, men and women of goodwill, to both out friends and enemies, in the interest of humanity to come forward to assist and protect the lives and talents of Biafra, to relieve the starvation and wasteful death now the only companion of our exhausted people.

I implore the world to rise to this desperate need, to mount all possible pressures on Nigeria to ensure that food gets to my people.

I would like to conclude this statement with a solemn declaration, emphasizing again the point I have repeatedly made in this appeal to the governments of the world to save my people from extermination.

The sole motive behind Nigeria's determination to draw an iron curtain over Biafra and exclude international observers, relief agencies, journalists whom they have not carefully picked themselves, is to make sure that the atrocities they will certainly carry out in Biafra is unseen and unreported in the world press.

Once they have sealed off Biafra from the gaze of mankind, I hesitate to contemplate the fate of the Biafran leadership, the trained manpower, the scientists and professionals whom they would liquidate as planned before the world can interfere.

Genocide, I repeat, is not an internal affair of Nigeria, and it is the clear duty of those powers who have armed and helped Nigeria to gain victory over Biafra to step in and persuade Gowon to allow international agencies and observers to enter Biafra to feed the hungry, to heal the sick and to save a whole people from complete annihilation.

If they fail to persuade Nigeria to open her doors to these agencies then their declarations of humanitarian aid to Nigeria becomes mere propaganda.

I repeat the aims of Nigeria are genocidal - the test that the contrary is the case is her willingness to admit humanitarian agencies whom Gowon has now openly declared he will exclude.

As a people we have endured as only giants endure. We have fought as heroes fight. We have dared as only gods dare. We are disillusioned by the world's insensitivity to the plight of our people.

Yet because our cause is just we believe we have not lost the war, only that the battlefield has changed.

We are convinced that Biafra will survive.

Biafra was born out of the blood of innocents slaughtered in Nigeria during the pogroms of 1966. Biafra will ever live, not as a dream but as the crystallization of the cherished hopes of a people who see in the establishment of this territory a last hope for peace and security.

Biafra cannot be destroyed be meref forceof arms.

May I take this opportunity to thank all those persons and organizations that have sacrificed that we might live - that we assure them that their sacrifice will not be in vain.

Biafra lives. The struggle continues. Long live the Republic of Biafra.
