THE ORIGIN OF CAKE
The origin of cake can be traced back to ancient Egypt and Greek.
In Egypt, cooks used honey, crushed and fermented grains and other natural sweetness to make simple pastries and flatbreads. The other cakes were yeast-base and sweetened with honey. By the Middle Ages bakers had began using egg and butter as well as yeast in their recipes.
These cakes were usually served during festive occasions.
The Greeks were one of the first to revolutionize cake making from here it derives its name. It's from Viking origin call "kaka" and it flatness is plakous meaning flat. The ingredients being used in the cake making were flour, egg, milk, nuts and honey.
The Romans on their part were the first in the making of fruit cake.
