If you're thinking of starting Poultry Chicken Farming, here are seven important things you must know!

1. Market research

It is very important to critically look at the demand that needs to be met. Is there high demand for table eggs, out grower chicken or broiler meat? Most start-up farmers go by what a friend or relative or neighbouring farmer is doing and hope to reap the benefits.

It is important that you take your time to talk to clients or potential customers and listen to them. Do a survey on restaurants, hotels, open air or takeaway eateries, supermarkets and delis and collect as much data as possible.

Ask questions about seasonal trends of products that you intend to bring into the market. Sometimes your assumptions may not match your survey results or outcome, so be ready to change your original plans and make new decisions.

2. Farm location

A poultry farm can be located on any dry land anywhere in the country as it is not dependent on any weather patterns. However, the ideal location would be outskirts of urban or peri-urban cities where there is ready market for both meat and eggs. Construct your farm where there is access to all weather road, away from riparian land that experience occasional flooding and landslide.

3. Housing system

The most common housing system in this country is deep litter, where the entire floor is covered by wood shaving and the other equipment like nest boxes, feeders and drinkers are centrally located. It is best suited for all types of birds and conforms to animal welfare requirement.

The free-range type is common for Sasso chicken with a bit of housing at night and scavenging in an open enclosure. In organic farming, the chickens are most of the time on free range scavenging and are on restricted commercial feed with no use of antibiotics and any additive.

4. Demand for building

Recorded a conversation between him and his friend on their point of death. It was a severe war that claimed the life of all their colleagues even their captains.

They were badly injured and lies side by side. They have been friends from Academy. But vow to help each other to live right.

They hear a voice of their enemies coming at their direction to finish what they started.
They have ran for many days with an empty jar of water. The other one saw a jar of water by the side of an enemies that has been gun down. He stretched his hand to grab for the last time.

Shouting “Fissssh pie” isn’t exactly a talent—it’s more of a catchy phrase that people found entertaining.

He should be forever grateful to Nons Miraj because, if not for her, he wouldn’t have even gotten to the extent he has.

In the social media space, creators and influencers are like lions. They are always looking for prey, and if you are the talk of the town at that moment, they’ll come to you to tap from it.
It’s not being used anyways everyone is trying to stay relevant.

He was given a car and a house.
He was removed from the trenches.

In fact, the little fame he got, I wonder why he didn’t use it wisely.

He went ahead to do stand-up comedy. Who even advised him to do that? It’s not everyone that goes viral that is suited for a stand up comedy.

Elupee Guy did almost the same thing.
The Jumoke bread seller ended up in nearly the same situation.

The Fish Pie guy could have used that opportunity to set up a mini bakery or even told them not to give him the car, but instead to use the money to set up a fish pie sit-out in the trenches and grow from there.

Imagine tying his business to that viral moment and promoting it—he would have gained instant recognition.

It’s only Jumoke, the bread seller girl, that I feel has talent but was mismanaged.

I pray this one gets a second chance because I’ve seen a lot of people dashing him money.

To everyone reading this who might find themselves in a similar situation:
Have a clear strategy in case such an opportunity comes your way.
Have a plan.
Don’t let anyone push you into doing what you’re not ready to do.
Focus on long-term goals instead of short-term gains; that’s what will take you far.

Sustaining fame in Nigeria requires raw talent, consistency, and proper management. A single video can make you go viral, but can you sustain it?

Can you leverage it?

Be prepared.

The second chance coming his way I hope he uses it well and doesn’t come to say he was used again.
