HOMEMADE BROWN SUGAR
Ingredients

Light Brown Sugar
- 1 Cup white sugar

- 1 tablespoon molasses (black treacle)

Dark Brown Sugar
- 1 Cup white sugar

- 2 tablespoons molasses (black treacle)

Instructions
Combine sugar and black treacle in a mixing bowl. Using your fingertips rub in the black treacle until the treacle is completely incorporated and the sugar turns brown.

Store in an air-tight container for months.

Because of the moisture, brown sugar has a tendency to clump together, to prevent this add a slice of white bread in the container and that will keep the sugar dry and fine.

TIPS FOR MEASURING YOUR BAKING INGREDIENTS:

1) Measuring Dry ingredients:
A) The first tip is to use the right measuring cup for dry ingredients.

Dry measuring cups have straight sides, which make it easy to level off the ingredients with a knife or spatula.
This ensures that you're measuring the correct amount.

B)The next tip is to spoon the dry ingredients into the measuring cup, rather than scooping them directly from the container.

When you scoop, you can end up packing in too much of the ingredient. But when you spoon it in, you get a more accurate measurement.

C)Another tip is to level off the measuring cup with a straight edge like a knife or spatula. This is especially important for ingredients like flour which can be easily over-measured if you don't level it off.

4) The next tip is to be aware of how you measure brown sugar. Brown sugar is very moist, so it can easily be packed into the measuring cup. But that will give you too much brown sugar, which can mess up your recipe.

So, the best way to measure brown sugar is to pack it into the measuring cup, then scrape the top level with a straight edge. That way, you'll get the right amount.

2)Measuring wet ingredients:
A) A liquid measuring cup is usually made of clear glass or plastic with a spout for easy pouring.
It's also usually marked with measurement lines on the side.
So, be sure to use this type of measuring cup when measuring liquids.

😎 Now, let's talk about sticky liquids like honey,black treacle, golden syrup. Since these ingredients are so thick, it can be hard to get an accurate measurement.

To solve this problem, you can lightly coat the inside of the measuring cup with a bit of cooking oil or spray.

This will make it easy to pour out the sticky liquid, and it will also make cleanup very easy.
