The terms "pottage" and "porridge" refer to two distinct types of dishes. Oya see the difference 👇🏾

Pottage is a thick Slowly cooked soup or stew made by boiling yam, plantain, potatoes, vegetables, and often meat or fish, seasoned with hebrs and spices, thick and chunky, with a stew-like consistency.

Porridge on the other hand is a less chunky smooth and creamy dish made by boiling ground, crushed, or chopped starchy plants—typically grains like oats,corn, rice, or wheat—in water or milk until it reaches a creamy consistency. Often sweetened with sugar, honey, or fruits, or made savory with salt and butter.

In summary, Pottage is a more complex, hearty dish with mixed ingredients that takes more time to prepare and often served as a main dish, whereas porridge is a simpler, creamy breakfast-oriented dish focused on grains and it takes less time to prepare.
