A bride once asked me:
“Since you’re an event planner/ decorator, why can’t you just plan your own event?”
My answer was simple, even professionals need professionals.
Here are 5 important reasons why you shouldn’t plan your own event, even if it’s your job:
📌You deserve to be present, not pressured
Your own event is meant to be enjoyed. Planning it yourself turns you into the coordinator, problem-solver, and supervisor.
📌You can’t be objective with your own event
Professionals make better decisions for others because emotions are removed. When it’s your event, sentiments can affect timing, budget, and ex*****on.
📌You’ll miss key moments
While you’re checking vendors, timelines, and setups, precious memories are happening without you fully experiencing them.
📌No matter how skilled you are, you need backup, every event needs someone fully in charge on the day. You can’t manage logistics and celebrate at the same time, it always costs something.
📌 Professionals also need rest and trust
Planning events daily doesn’t mean you should carry that load on your special day. Delegating allows you to breathe, relax, and trust the process.
📌In conclusion:
DIY works, but not when you deserve peace, presence, and perfection.
Sometimes, the best decision a professional can make is hiring another professional.
