GOD CHOSE TO BEGIN IT THERE.
God wasn’t looking for a perfect story, He began with a place filled with flaws and filth. He chose to work on what was usable. And there is a reason God did it this way- To reveal God’s role as ONE WHO REDEEMS.
He always takes what is flawed and makes it new. He brings blessing from struggle and turns situations around. But let’s also remember the story of THE FALL. By reason of his transgressions, Adam fell and doomed us all. Thereby making what God had created perfect, fall back into that which was confused and without order. In short, DARKNESS RETURNED!
(Literally, not physical darkness, but spiritual darkness) In no time, sinful man began to recognize that in the darkness, they’d have a tremendous problem. This made many begin to cry out for deliverance from the darkness.
Throughout the O.T, there were promises of salvation coming and pictures that the light might return, as there was also a growing hope that what God did on the first day of creation, He might do that again.
Isaiah 9:2 says “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them.”
These promises were fulfilled as God’s light truly came, alongsides with salvation and life. And this is why we celebrate Jesus today. This is why we love Christmas. The birth of Jesus Christ was our new creation and light in our darkness. Man was useless, corrupt and void before God said “Let there be light” and truly, this LIGHT came. In this LIGHT, we are assured the HOPE of glory.
