A few years ago when I was still an undergraduate, we were to write one difficult exam, and I needed to go the extra mile in my studies. So I suggested to one of our brilliant course mates that I'll be coming over to his house so we can study together for the exam. He consented and we agreed that I should come to his house a day to the exam so we can study through the night and we'll go for the examination from his house.
He gave me the directions to his lodge and asked me to call his line when I get to a place called 'second gate', that he'll come out there to wait for me. I did as he instructed, but I noticed that I had to pass through little puddles of running water that flows to a very far distance. I think I passed like two or three before I got to the 'second gate'. That was when I called his number, and he came out to pick me. I told him how lonely and quiet the route to his house is, and he laughed, saying that that was how he met that neighborhood.
When I entered his room, I was surprised to see more than seven other people there(our course mates). They had all come to 'jack till day break' in his house. I felt a bit disappointed because I knew that studying with almost ten people inside one room is not going to be easy as there will be lots of distractions. It was already past 11 p.m, and I didn't want to start trekking home, so I decided to study with them.
The group reading didn't go well as I planned. One particular girl, Feyi, kept disturbing the rest of us, asking irrelevant questions, and constantly checking the time. I wasn't really close to that student, but I can attest to the fact that she is one of the best, academically.
So it came as a surprise to me to see her goofing around while the others were at least trying to study. One other guy came with lots of refreshments-fruits, tomtom, soft drinks, biscuits and suya. His mouth was busy all through. He kept eating, drinking, chewing and belching uncontrollably till I regretted coming for that group study.
At about 2 a.m, Feyi Fafunwa, the girl that was asking crazy questions said she was tired and needed to sleep. She found a spot on the floor, got a bowl of water, washed her face, kept the bowl of water beside her and slept off.
The others were already cracking jokes, while a few were just flipping through the pages of their text books. Personally, I was already tired from the whole noise. So I just rested my head on the wall, waiting for day break so I can leave. But I noticed something about Feyi's sleeping posture. She was lying down straight, her face facing the ceiling, while her hands were placed on her chest. Intermittently, her eyes lids blinked but she was still sleeping. She never turned to the left or right, she never moved her body like someone who was sleeping, but the water in the bowl which she kept beside her kept turning as if someone was stirring the water. I found that quite strange and intriguing at the same time. I turned to look at the others who were now snoring and sleeping except for Bayo, the guy that owns the room.
"Victor Firdance How far nah?" Bayo asked me with a sleepy eyes as he packed his books and kept them on the table.
"I just dey ooo" I replied.
"No vex say all these people no let you read. If I tell dem make dem no come, e go come be like say I wicked."
"No problem, I understand..."
"Aahhh, why this Feyi girl carry water keep for ground, she want make the water pour for my books? I no just know wetin dey worry this babe sometimes."
He carried the red bowl of water into the bathroom and poured it away. At the moment the water poured on the floor, I noticed that Feyi quaked a bit like someone who was convulsing. But I didn't take it seriously.
Bayo came back into the room and we chatted briefly before I finally slept off.
I woke up to a mild noise coming from the room. Almost every other person was awake except for Feyi. We pinched, kicked and yelled her name, yet she was still sleeping.
Bayo was already scared. The thought of someone dying in his room can never be imagined. It was already past 5 a.m, and our exams was to start by 8 a.m, but Feyi was still sprawled on the floor like a lifeless co**se.
We knew we were in big trouble. The noise from the room was getting louder that the occupants of the lodge began to come out. Bayo was already crying begging us to do something; call a pastor, take her to the hospital, etc.
I told Bayo to tell everyone to wait outside the room, and he did Just that. I was now left alone in the room with Bayo and the sleeping Feyi.
I told Bayo to use that same red bowl to get some water and place it at the same spot where he removed it from last night.
He did that, and we left the room and closed the door, leaving the sleeping Feyi alone inside the room. It was not up to five minutes that we left the room that Feyi opened the door and walked out, looking so harassed and disheveled. She was panting seriously like someone who was engaged in a marathon all through the night and her eyes were blood shot. She walked pass all of us, and surprisingly, we all made way for her. Nobody had the guts to ask her what happened, not even Bayo who was already seeing himself in prison uniform.
I knew instantly that Feyi is from the water, and that Bayo, throwing the water away, had upset something in the spiritual realm.
Not everyone you see that looks normal is actually normal, some are here with us, but they actually belong to the other side.
Let us always be careful about the kind of people we invite into our space.
Life is Spiritual!
