A story about this palm. I love Golden Palms. They are in my opinion so graceful, so beautiful inside the sun (where their leaves turn to a beautiful golden yellow) and outside where they are fresh and green. So before I got any plant knowledge, all my plant advice would be from local gardeners who would tell me it could stay indoors. Local gardeners of course have some good knowledge but I painfully found this claim to be inaccurate or outright untrue. Several times I put my Golden Palm indoors in low light like this (directly under a ceiling, no sun or natural light and as you can already guess, they NEVER made it!
Golden Palms are NOT low light plants. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Not even Google. If your aim is to put it somewhere with this level of light on the picture, don't do it!
There are palms that can stay in low light! Leave a message in the comments if you want to know them!
PS: Always take advice that is relevant to your country/climate, and that is (where possible) personally tried and tested by the person giving it!

The Licuala Grandis, also known as Fan Palm, is a fancy and not very commonwealth indoor palm. It's low maintenance but likes it's soil a little moist so the idea is to water when the top soil starts drying.
It prefers the low light indoors and at most bright indirect light. It does not like direct sunlight! Its leaves will get scorched.

Not everyday snake plant. Do you know this plant? Gloriosa also called flame lily, fire lily or cats claw is a sun loving plant that blooms with red and yellow flowers. It climbs and would decorate a wall it trellis beautifully!

I just love the glossy healthy green leaves of this Schefflera. Scheffleras are my favourite new plant because indoor, outdoor, in soil or in water, they literally just look good without hardly any maintenance. And they grow so many leaves they look lush all the time! Talk about an unsung hero!

Palms. Some palms are indoor plants while some need some sunshine or at least some bright light for a few hours daily.
The parlor palm (slides 1and 2) is a true indoor palm that actually prefers to stay out of direct sunlight.
Don't let anyone tell you slide 3 (golden palm aka areca palm) is an indoor plant. It will die on you! However if you have lots of light (read sunlight) streaming in through a window or want to put it in a shaded area outside or a balcony or even in full sun, it will do just fine with minimal care.
