“Manners are a sensitive awareness of the feelings of others. If you have that awareness, you have good manners, no matter what fork you use.”
~Emily Post

"Another candle on your cake? Well, that's no cause to pout. Be glad that you have strength enough To blow the damn thing out." ..

In reading the lives of great men, I found that the first victory they won was over themselves... self-discipline with all of them came first...
Harry S. Truman

I have yet to hear a man ask for advice on how to combine marriage and a career....Gloria Steinem

If you excuse yourself from the table, loosely fold the napkin and place it to the left or right of your plate. Do not refold your napkin or wad it up on the table either. Never place your napkin on your chair...

No matter how well you know the rules of netiquette, you will eventually offend someone who doesn't.

“Etiquette tip: More people will get out of your way if you say "I'm gonna puke!" than if you say "Excuse me".”

Don't speak with your mouth full of food. Sure, you've heard your mother say it a hundred times, but no one likes to see a ball of masticated meat in your mouth. If you feel you must speak immediately, if you have only a relatively small bite, tuck it into your cheek with your tongue and speak briefly.

As soon as you are seated, unfold your napkin and place it on your lap. The napkin remains on your lap (except for use) until the end of the meal. That’s when the diners are leaving the table, not just when you finish!

Tableware Facts...

In the middle ages silverware was regarded as too valuable to be arranged on a table and was placed on a side table, next to where the meal was being eaten.

The word "centerpiece" doesn't always have to mean you have one single focus point at the middle of the table. Sometimes it's more interesting & elegant to do a line down the middle, with your centerpiece filling a long center space. You can either buy dried flowers, leaves, & other natural objects, or you can dry them yourself in the weeks leading up to your event. Interspersed with candles & placed on an inexpensive table runner, the effect is minimalist, elegant & very expensive looking.

People think basic tablesetting should start with white tablecloth. Ur thoughts?

Candles: Just a single chunky pillar type candle in the center of your table is enough. Floating candles in a bowl of water is also unique. I recommend non-scented candles for a table, as a scented one can compete with the aromas of your meal, or offend the noses of your guests who will likely be sitting quite close to it.

What would you like to see happen on your table?? Colours, Texture..?

Good dinner table etiquette sometimes involves a degree of diplomacy when it comes to the host's choice of food and wine! Even if you feel that you can do better, don't ever offer your criticism. If you feel unable to pay any compliments, at least remain silent on the subject.

French Etiquette Rule :French bread is always torn off rather than cut. Do not dip it into soup or sauce...

When finished eating, position the knife and fork (or other cutlery used) side by side pointing into the centre of the plate....

TABLE SETTING ETIQUETTE - GLASSWARE
Depending on how many different wines are being served, they will normally be positioned above the knives. They should be placed with the water glass to the extreme left, and then follow in the order for which they will be used, working from left to right. For example: Water - Champagne - White Wine- Red Wine - Dessert Wine

Table Setting Etiquette: The golden rule is ALWAYS work from the OUTSIDE, IN. Use the outside knife and fork for the first course (entrée), and then simply work inwards for each subsequent course.
