I visited a business place today... A fantastic Arena with a fine Business running on a great Business plan.
__
But right before... i mean in front of the gate where pedestrians are to go through and fro into the business arena; was a pool of water
__
Meaning for anyone to get into that Business place... you needed to 'jump' or think for a bit; how you 'should not' end up in that pool of stagnant water.
__
And then Right beside it was a gate man, very well dressed, welcoming guests or visitors coming into the business place of course with a smile....Beside a pool of stagnant water..
__
Excuse me.. how do i marry the two?
Warmth and confusion? 😕
__
I asked the smiling gate man, "why not do something about this spot?" __
And his reply was... i will forward it to the Management!
__
Say what???? Manag.... what? 😂😂😂
__
I will conform if he was kidding the next time i visit but really if he wasn't joking... that pool of water shouldn't have been there in the first place.
__
Dear employee... don't be like this gate man waiting for management to come fix what his initiative can fix.
__
Prove to your employer as often as you can that they made no mistakes hiring you.
__
Be a valuable player in the company.

How you treat another's Company; is most likely the same way you will treat yours should you ever have yours.

When people express likeness for your product(s)
That is not the time to smile and say thank you!

That is your chance to effectively market your product to them..
__
Except the item is not for sale..
But if it is.. you need to follow that prospective client up ,
__
Get them to commit to a purchase and seal a sales deal..
__
This might not give you a sale every time but at least.. it would show that client that you are serious and most likely earn you a referral paradventure they don't need your product immediately.
__
Never loose a chance to pitch a sale or close a sales deal.

Who has a word for people who access Business services through the backdoor?

Backdoor Business is an undocumented way of gaining access to a business' service or Product.
___
Backdoor Business bypasses normal documentation /authentication mechanisms existing within the company.
___
In plain terms, it is when a client decides to deal with your employee independently rather than go through the business or company.
____
What makes it worse is the fact that; company resources would still be used for this illegal transaction yet the profit does not come to the company's account.
____
It's a leakage channel in a company's profit flow.
_____
It mitigates against accurate documentation and data collection for the business and business growth.
_____
A business which constantly experiences backdoor service operations can not effectively monitor resources or give an accurate account of company supplies, purchases or Profit.
___
Two or more people are guilty in this case. ...
__
The Client who has no idea how much damage He/She is doing to a growing business.
__
And the greedy staff who loves to cheat the established process.
____
Most times, backdoor services are rearly detected except

- An audit process takes place

- Both cheats fall out or

- One of them is caught in the act.
____

In case you are guilty of BACKDOOR patronage, please know that what goes around, comes around,
You are killing a growing Business Slowly and it's not too late to STOP!

A lesson I learnt the hard way; after joking with an investment opportunity.

I thought the ideas were 'there' and on seeing the investor, I will just open my mouth and words would flow... 😢

Unfortunately I developed a cold feet at the sight of him.
I went with a friend and my friend Gloria, did most of the talking for me.
But the investor knew who owned the idea, having called and followed up earlier.
__
I wasn't sure what was really wrong but in all, one thing I left with; was the fact that I didn't prepare for that meeting.
___
The investor saw this flaw and was even so generous to Share his own failure experience with me.
___
He had also been in my shoes.. 'showing up unprepared'😯
___
Though I didn't get the money; I got and learnt a profound lesson which I just shared with you.
___

How important is Keeping your word as a business owner?

In one day 3 businesses who had earlier promised to deliver products all failed.
____
And not one was cautious enough to call in and apologise for their inability to deliver as promised
____
People in business take clients for granted a lot. I am guilty too 😟.
____
But this kind of attitudes can actually affect us and our businesses sevevelly as you know not, which business deal will bring your next millions or billions if you like.
___
We should always remember that our clients keep us in business.
___
Delegate if you have to
Set an alarm to remind you to get back to that client if you have to.
___
If you delegate, remember to check with the client!
*Feedbacks are soo key* in business
___
We all put up our positive feedbacks quickly and as quickly delete negative feedback from our pages or those dissatisfactory feedbacks never make it out.
___
But every feedback is too key to our business growth.
___
So remember to always keep your word in business. I mean if your are in business to make money, then you need to treat with at most regards; does who make that happen. 😉

I recently embarked on a self and business appraisal and came to the conclusion that Business for Profit is actually paying off than the Business i kicked off for Passion.
____
A quick story. ....
As a serial Entrepreneur; I have created a number of businesses and most of them have been a mixture of both Passion and Profit.
____
My first ever Business was first a passion turned Business hence it was a bit difficult crossing totally from that Passion into a Profit oriented business.
____
Some how I always had that sympathy eye, and believed the saying that even if it doesn't pay, I am fulfilled in what I have found to do. 😄(if this is you too, oyah gather here let's take selfie)🙈
____
I hope you haven't rode on this too.

But don't get me wrong, passion is essential for business, even though my last business actually had no atom of passion in it when I initially kicked it off; as I got into it majorly for the profit.
____
So I guess it's safe to sit on the fence and say, passion is key for some kind of business while some other kinds of business don't necessary require passion.
____
Let me also add that, because my recent business is profit based, has a clear cut Vision from the beginning ; I think about it everyday and get creative by the minute; in a bid to satisfy my client and ensure to give value for every money they pay.

My level of innovation is like high up there!
____
In between this thought, I'm also thinking that perhaps my most recent business is doing way better than others because of the many business experiences I have gathered over the years.
____
It's a dicey one. 🙉😏

It is always adviced that a market survey (The study of the spending characteristics and purchasing power of the consumer who are within your business's geographic area of operation; a research method for defining the market parameters of a business); be carried out before locating a business or a new business.

A business in or situated in a wrong location might just be dead on arrival.

One key thing i have learnt is; situating your business in the mist of your 'complementors' - (Complementors are- companies or businesses that sell products or services that complements your own products or services)
___
They are your first customers, or better still, their customers also become your customers and vice- versa.
___
Your Complementors are your friends. While your Competitors are the opposite.
Hence choose your location wisely.
___
My most recent business the is situated in the mist of complementors e .g - Car dealers, Mechanics, bars and better still it is on a major residential high way.

My Business Mentors helped me choose wisely and I can definitely say, it's paying off.

Too often we 'under charge' in a bid not to scare our clients away.

But while we under charge to win a client, some of us in actual fact shoot ourselves in the leg as some clients 'actually' need a 'pricey' product or service. 😕

And they walk away cos you appeared 'too cheap' !

Anything that can become obsolete should be avoided when planning a company or business publicity material.
___
I learned from exprience and i do well to share especially with graduates of the BYOB skills Acquisition Centre; on their graduation days.
___
Asides from being obsolete, humans are insatiable, we get tired easily or always look forward to an upgrade and as at then, once you change your phone, your pin goes with it.
___
And now? How many people still flaunt BBM pins? I guess people have moved on as well 😕.
___
So when next you are planning a banner, business card, flier etc, include only contact details that can stand the test of time.

And i think i have tried over time as a business person to ensure that my Business line is always ever available.

I would also adviced, based on experience that business owners; go though their publicity materials especially those online and either edit or delete publicity materials with inactive phone or even contacts details.
___
Especially if you are still in business or still run that business.
___
It's annoying indeed for prospective client hoping to enquire of your service; to try endlessly to reach you on those contacts and never succeed because you failed to do an update for an existing Business.

A while ago i decided to share some of my Business experiences.
This is yet another.. "ABILITY TO WORK UNDER PRESSURE"

'People' are believed to be a company's greatest asset hence a company/business would need to hire people at some point and require of these people to put in thier best to move the company/business forward.
___
However, before you include "Ability to work under pressure as one of your employability skills; be sure you would be able to deliver when push comes to shove.
___
As interesting as this may sound or look in a CV, a time would come in that company or business should you eventually get that job; where you would be required to put this skill into ultimate use.
And should you by any chance fail at it, you might just perhaps loose that job.
I am a thinker, i do my best to proffer solutions to problems, i do all i can to salvage situations and in the ends always excited at the result garnered but i must say sometimes it's harded than it actually sounds.
Hence the next time you are tempted to include this in your CV be totally sure you understand exactly what you are committing to.

Some even had about 4 to 5 flags on just a car.

It's good to see that despite all that's not working; Some people still have hope and still believe in NIGERIA.
That some people still feel there's still a need to celebrate the 58th Anniversary of Nigeria.

That some still feel proud enough to fly the Nigerian flag.
