Meat pies Recipe this will make 18pieces of meatpies 🙌
Ingredients for the dough
250g of margarine
5 cups of flour
1 egg yolk
I tbs of vinegar water
1tsp of nutmeg
1tsp of salt
Ingredients for fillings
Irish potatoes 4medium size
Carrot 4medium size
500g beef
Ginger, garlic and onion
Salt,Maggi,curry and thyme
Groundnut oil
Procedure
Blend in margarine into your flour with your hands,add nutmeg,vinegar water and yolk. Add cold water to form a soft but firm dough. Wrap inside nylon and keep in the fridge till it's needed.
For the fillings
Peel and cut your Irish potatoes,carrots,onions,ginger and garlic into desired shapes. Wash and boil your beef then pour into blender to blend it.
Add small quantity of groundnut into your frying pan, add ginger,garlic and onion into the pan. Pour the beef into the oil and fry for a while. Add seasoning, potatoes and carrots and fry with the meat. Add water into the mixture (enough to soften the potatoes and carrot). Once the potato and carrot is soft, mix flour and water in a cup to form a thick paste. Add the paste into the fillings to thicken it. After a little while, remove from the pan and allow to cool. Bring your dough out from the fridge and start rolling in bit using rolling pin, then spread on your meat pie cutter. Add fillings and close it form the desired shape. Continue this process till all the dough is finished. Egg-wash the pies and bake till light brown as seen in the picture.
