Gone But Never Forgotten! 12 Years Ago, We Lost The Greatest Singer Of All Time-Time !

August 9, 1963 - February 11, 2012

Whitney Elizabeth Houston was an American singer and actress. Nicknamed "the Voice", she is regarded as one of the greatest singers in the history of music. Houston is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with over 220 million records sold worldwide. She influenced many singers in the recording industry, and was known for her powerful, soulful vocals, vocal improvisation skills, use of gospel singing techniques in pop music, and live performances. Houston had 11 number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and is the only artist to have seven consecutive number-one singles on the chart. Her accolades include eight Grammy Awards, 16 Billboard Music Awards, two Emmy Awards, and 30 Guinness World Records. Houston's inductions include the Grammy Hall of Fame (twice), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame, the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, the New Jersey Hall of Fame, and the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress.

Houston began singing at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, as a child and became a background vocalist while in high school. She was one of the first black women to appear on the cover of Seventeen after becoming a teen model in 1981. With the guidance of Arista Records chairman Clive Davis, Houston signed to the label at age 19. Her first two studio albums, Whitney Houston (1985) and Whitney (1987), both peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 and are among the best-selling albums of all time. Hit singles from the albums, including "How Will I Know", "Greatest Love of All" and "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)", established her as a catalyst in the acceptance of black female artists on MTV. Her third studio album, I'm Your Baby Tonight (1990), yielded two Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles, the title track and "All the Man That I Need". Houston's rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Super Bowl XXV in 1991 received widespread media coverage.

Houston made her acting debut with the romantic thriller film The Bodyguard (1992), which despite its mixed reviews became the tenth highest-grossing film to that date. Its soundtrack won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and remains the bestselling soundtrack album of all time. It generated multiple hit singles, including "I Have Nothing", "I'm Every Woman" and "I Will Always Love You"; the latter won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year, spent a then-record 14 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and became the best-selling single by a woman in music history. Subsequently, she went on to star in the films Waiting to Exhale (1995) and The Preacher's Wife (1996), and she recorded their respective soundtracks; the former scored her last Billboard Hot 100 number-one single, "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)", while the latter, produced by Houston herself, became the bestselling gospel album of all time. As a film producer, she produced multicultural movies and series such as Cinderella (1997) and The Princess Diaries and The Cheetah Girls.

Houston's first studio album in eight years, My Love Is Your Love (1998), spawned several hit singles, including the title track, "Heartbreak Hotel", "It's Not Right but It's Okay" and the Academy Award-winning Mariah Carey duet "When You Believe". Following the success, she renewed her contract with Arista for $100 million in 2001, one of the biggest recording deals of all time.[6] However, her personal problems began to overshadow her career. Her 2002 studio album, Just Whitney, received mixed reviews, while her drug use and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown received widespread media coverage. After divorcing Brown, Houston returned to the top of the Billboard 200 chart with her final studio album, I Look to You (2009). In February 2012, Houston accidentally drowned in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills. News of her death coincided with the 2012 Grammy Awards, which took place the day following her death, and was covered internationally. Her life and career were dramatized in the 2022 biopic I Wanna Dance with Somebody. Her assets amounted to $250 million, earned over a 25-year career.

ALTHORN.

The instrument known today as the tenor/alto horn was developed in the 1840s by the Belgian instrument maker Adolphe Sax who, among other instrument design activities, designed two similar families of valved brass instruments, the saxhorn and the saxotromba.

A musical instrument of the sax-horn class, often used in place of or with the French horn in military bands. Any of several upright, valved brass wind instruments used especially in bands.

The tenor horn has been made and is made in various shapes: the most common in the United States and the UK, and in most other parts of the world, is a sort of mini-tuba shape, with the bell pointing upward, which may help the voice blend before reaching the audience.

The standard bell-up horn comes in two basic shapes - one with the beginning of the bell looping over the top of the valves and the other looping below the valves.

These types are the most frequently encountered in the United States and UK. Only the standard upright instrument is seen in UK brass bands.

In Europe, Červený have been manufacturing tenor horns since 1852. They currently offer models of the instrument looped like a classic horn and an oval model shaped like a Wagner tuba, all models having rotary valves, as opposed to the more common piston valves.

The modern instrument has a larger diameter and now resembles Sax's specification of the saxhorn more than it does that of the saxotromba.

The musical instrument is commonly used in United Kingdom, United States of America, Mexico and France to mention but few.

ALPHORN.

The oldest known document using the German word Alphorn is a page from a 1527 account book from the former Cistercian abbey of St. Urban near Pfaffnau, mentioning the payment of two Batzen to an itinerant alphorn player from the Valais.
17th–19th century collections of alpine myths and legends suggest that alphorn-like instruments had frequently been used as signal instruments in village communities in ancient times, sometimes instead of church bells.

The alphorn has long been a tool used by shepherds. It was used to call the cows from the pastures and into the barn at milking time. An engraving from 1754 shows a shepherd using the alphorn to motivate the cows to cover the last steep stretch on their big climb up into the Alps.

The alphorn's exact origins remain indeterminate, and the ubiquity of horn-like signal instruments in valleys throughout Europe may indicate a long history of cross influences regarding their construction and usage.

The main function of the alphorn was, however, for communication with the herdsmen on the neighboring Alps and with the people down in the valley below. This acts is majorly found around the people of German-speaking Catholic cantons in Central Switzerland.
A similar instrument can also be found among these countries: Romania; Argentina; Tibet; Mongolia; Ukraine and Chile.

AEOLIAN HARP.

Aeolian Harp has the ability of the wind to play string instruments, and has been known and referenced since Biblical times.
The aeolian harp is the Greek answer to wind chimes. It's a stringed instrument played only by wind (or, as a Greek of the classical era might say, it's intended to be plucked only by the fingers of Ae**us, the god of winds).

The Aeolian harp – already known in the ancient world – was first described by Athanasius Kircher (1602–1680) in his books Musurgia Universalis (1650) and Phonurgia Nova (1673). It became popular as a household instrument during the Romantic era, and Aeolian harps are still hand-crafted today.

The aeolian harp creates sound for the same reason the frosted line bounces. The cause lies in the phenomenon known as vortex shedding. A vortex (or curl) forms in flowing air under certain conditions. Normally, vortices are invisible in transparent air, but smoke makes them easy to see.

An aeolian harp is a box equipped with a number of strings of equal length, tuned in unison and sounded by wind. Some are now made in the form of monumental metal sound sculptures located on the roofs of buildings and windy hilltops.

The Aeolian harp is especially common in modern music being sampled as a 'backing track' for its eerie, exotic, and unique sound.

Aeolian harps have been found in China, Ethiopia, Greece, India, Indonesia, and Melanesia.
In the modern world, Aeleon Harp is found in San Francisco and New Mexico in North America, and Negrar (Verona) in Italy and also at Sydney (Nova Scotia) in Canada.

ACCORDION.
The accordion's basic form is believed to have been invented in Berlin, in 1822, by Christian Friedrich Ludwig Buschmann, although one instrument was discovered in 2006 that appears to have been built earlier.

The accordion has traditionally been used to perform folk or ethnic music, popular music, and transcriptions from the operatic and light-classical music repertoire. It was also used by the Kikuyu tribe in Kenya and is the main instrument in the traditional Mwomboko dance.

There are two main kinds of accordion, distinguished by their different keyboards: button accordions and piano accordions. All accordions have a button keyboard on the left-hand side for bass chords, but on the right-hand side, where the melody is played, they can have either piano or button keys.
A further invisible distinction is the type: there are both chromatic and diatonic accordions.

Today the instrument is sometimes heard in contemporary pop styles, such as rock and pop-rock, and occasionally even in serious classical music concerts, as well as advertisements.

It's an instrument that's majorly plays in this following countries:
Australia; Brazil: Bosnia and Herzegovina; Czech Republic; Mexico; Colombia; China; North Korea.

THE POWER OF THE MIND.

He was very sick.

His friends took him to the hospital.

He was admitted and the doctor advised him to run series of tests including HIV to ascertain what the problem was.

Malaria and typhoid tests came back positive that same day.

While they were expecting the other test results, the doctor started treating malaria and typhoid.

As he was recovering very fast, the HIV test result came and it was also positive.

The doctor broke the news to him.

He was devastated and broken.

Within hours, all his body systems broke down.

He couldn't eat and he couldn't sleep.

Within one week, he emaciated seriously to the extent he couldn't walk by himself again.

Then something dramatic happened after two weeks.

The lab discovered that they made a mistake with the results.

They had swapped his sample with another person's own.

He is HIV - negative.

The doctor got the news and summon the courage to break the news to the patient.

Doctor: Sir, we are sorry

Patient: For what doctor?

Doctor: There was a mistake with your blood sample submitted for the HIV test.

Patient: What do you mean doctor?

Doctor: They discovered you are HIV - negative.

Patient: What! Are you serious, doctor?

Doctor: Yes sir! We are very sorry.

The guy that couldn't walk for days, jumped out of the bed and started running around the ward in excitement.

Everyone in the hospital was shocked at the scene.

What happened?

What changed?

Where did the strength come from?

The power of the mind.

We live and die first in our minds.

We are poor first in our minds.

We are rich first in our minds.

We are failures first in our minds.

We are successful first in our minds.

You can't become in life what you have not become in your mind.

Train your mind and heart to be positive and progressive-minded.

JUST A REMINDER

"Buy one - get one free"
It may be a marketing gimmick.
But it is true in real life in many sense and ways.

We buy anger and get high blood Pressure free.

We buy jealousy and get headache free.

We buy hatred and get ulcers free.

We buy stress and get heart diseases, liver diseases, stroke and diabetes free ( many options)…and so on.

Conversely

If we buy trust, we get friendship free.

If we buy exercise, we get health free.

If we buy peace, we get prosperity free.

If we buy honesty, we get a good sleep and many great virtues for free.

If we buy positivity, we get hope free.

It is for us to decide what we want to buy in life, as whatever we buy in life, the life automatically gives us something free with it.
