FIRST PANEL SESSION
The panel session was themed, ‘Deepening Nigerian Content in the Manufacturing Sector’
The panel said local content law should look at how manufacturing can be done at a reasonable cost.
The panelists said Africa is waiting for Nigerian-made goods, hence the need to have the discipline and the law that will support manufacturing.
They also called for the unification of standards for manufacturers. For Nigerian to have a low-hanging fruit, according to them, there has to be imitations that are emulated in the value chain of the gas industry.
“There must also be industrial cross-collaboration with various government agencies to harvest the low-hanging fruits in manufacturing,” the panel said.

THIRD PANEL SESSIONS
The third panel session had speakers share their views on the theme, ‘Opportunities in Decarbonisation & Domestic Gas Utilisation’.
The discussion explored how indigenous service companies can tap into decarbonisation opportunities.
The panelists said technical know-how and capacity development are critical factors towards decarbonisation, and called for collaboration with foreign technical partners.

THIRD PANEL SESSIONS
The third panel session had speakers share their views on the theme, ‘Defining a Sustainable Framework for Human Capacity Development’.
The panelists assessed the progress that has been made through the HCD levy, and called for the encouragement of indigenous service companies to increase their technology research and development.
The session closed with a group photograph with Engr. ,Executive Secretary of NCDMB.

The panel session centred on ‘Providing an Enabling Environment for Investment in the Energy Sector’.
The panel advocated for collaboration industry, noting that the regulators must also be “enabled to do their job”.

FIRST PANEL SESSION FOR DAY TWO:
The first panel session focused on ‘Upstream Divestments: Outlining the Pathway to Success’.
Panelist addressed the regulatory bottlenecks in delivering the potential opportunities in divestments and other issues.
They concluded that there are no regulatory bottlenecks hindering divestments in Nigeria.
They also called for creativity in local content compliance ‘to make the regulators happy’.

The governor, represented by Alabo Gideon Ekeuwei, his SSG, spoke at the 12th Practical Nigerian Content Forum. His speech marked the official opening of the conference.

Our local content policies should be reviewed to ensure they’re fit for purpose and also that the industry can remain globally competitive, said Mr. Abdulrazaq Isa, Chairman, IPPG during his goodwill message at the 12th Practical Nigerian Content Forum.

“Nigerian Content level in the Nigerian oil and gas industry is 54% based on our monitoring and evaluation of industry activities.
“This performance is well above the minimum target of 47% NC set for 2023 by the Board’s Project Management Office (PMO) just like we outperformed the 42% NC target set for 2022 by achieving 54% Nigerian Content”, Engr. , Executive Secretary of NCDMB, said while delivering the keynote address at the 12th Practical Nigerian Content Forum.

“Regarding our Commercial Ventures portfolio, we partnered with Waltersmith to establish a 5,000bpd modular refinery in Ibigwe, Imo State. This year alone, the refinery has produced and sold over 170million liters or about 3,000 trucks of petroleum products that would have been hitherto imported using our scarce forex.
“I am pleased to note that site works for the expansion of the refinery to 10,000bpd refinery commenced in September 2023,” Engr. , Executive Secretary of NCDMB, said while delivering the keynote address 12th Practical Nigerian Content Forum officially begins.
