We’re proud to hear our residents grow despite the current situation. Everyone is coping with these times in their own way and for RON L this includes finding comfort in other music genres. By broadening his musical horizon he manages to keep himself inspired and deliver the drive and energy he’s known for so well.

In this set RON L aimed to translate the energy he would provide in a peak-time club experience. By using dark hypnotic soundscapes in combination with lots of energetic drive he manages to mesmerize the dancefloor and give them a dynamic experience. He aims to create an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect where the listener can fully let go and indulge in the moment. This magical dancefloor experience is something we all miss a lot, but thanks to RON L we have some new perspective on what to expect once the sound systems are fired up again.

It has been 3 weeks since my latest podcast for the beautiful Nachtblumen podcast series.

I have been overwhelmed with great comments about my set. I can't thank everyone enough for their kind words and for believing. I also almost reached 700 plays on this set so a big thanks to all listeners.

The whole process of getting this set done as a puzzle, putting tracks in the right spot, and actually recording it was challenging for me. This podcast is my first three-deck recording on my new gear and it therefore required a lot of preparation.

Ever since I have known, the Berlin Based, Nachtblumen I have always been impressed by the output and the person behind it. The combination of the artwork and the intriguing texts amazes me every time. Needless to say this podcast felt really important to me. Since the moment I was asked by Nadya I immediately felt the drive to do some digging and to create something unique for both Nachtblumen and myself, to form an even bigger connection. I am very pleased with the result.

OECUS Podcast #238

I recorded this set with the past year and the following months in mind. It was quite an interesting year with limitations and problems, especially in regard to Covid-19. My goal was to translate this dark period with a heavy and full sound. There are certain places in the set with less heavy kicks (and bass) to slow down a bit and to create some space, but also to give the listener room to breath. This is the little bit of space that society was allowed to experience through relaxation of certain coronavirus related measures. The heavy/dark sound still prevails and there are not many moments for rest, because the measures became stricter again.

At a certain moment a break track will be mixed in to make the listener realize what has happened in the past year and to acknowledge what the turnaround was: the vaccinations that should give us that perspective which we hope for. After that brief moment more open 4 x 4 techno will come back in. Building up from that moment like this shows that we as a society should also keep on going and persevere.

Finally a fairly heavy distorted closing track, but still somewhat breathing because of the melody that is heard repetitively throughout the track, shows that we are almost there. I intended to keep the ending mysterious because the following months are giving us more and more perspective, but we don’t know when this will be over yet.

Rosillon x Nachtblumen 🔮

The 12th podcast for the beautiful podcast series of Nachtblumen.

I am extremely proud of the way this artist is improving himself on and on. Digging trough the realm of hypnotic techno and translating it into this mindbending performance is almost unreal to me.

Not only is Rosillon a great DJ, producer and resident of Embodiment but also a great friend of mine. His vinyl sets really proof to me he understands what he is doing. Telling a story from the beginning till the end of the set.

Approximately a year ago we had our first event at Perron which was something huge for us. The amount of support we have received and the kind words are so meaningful to us. We still learn everyday and we strive to keep on moving during the good and the bad times (Covid).

We, Embodiment, would like to thank you all for the ongoing support and are looking forward to a brighter future. Keep your head up and hopefully we will meet on the dancefloor again soon!

Upcoming Saturday would have been the day on which we would share the dancefloor and celebrate our one year anniversary. It’s needless to say that this year turned out to be different than we expected, but despite the unpredictable start of 2020, and the fact that we had to cancel all of our events, we look back on a good year for Embodiment thanks to our growing and most of all loyal community. In the past year we launched our SALON podcast series which showcases artists we believe in and associate with Embodiment’s musical identity. We also started our new collaboration with Operator which brought us a step closer to our goal to connect like-minded organizations in Rotterdam.

However, the fact that we can’t organize events right now doesn’t mean that our work is limited to our online activities. We used our time well to come up with new concepts to further develop our club nights as well as the physical completion of SALON. How long we have to wait is uncertain, but one thing is sure: as soon as we get the green light we will be more than ready!

To conclude this post we would like to thank you all for your heartwarming support and patience. We are positive about the future and we can’t wait to be reunited on the dancefloor again.

P.S. the upcoming two podcasts for SALON will be a consolation for our canceled edition back in March 😉

I am very proud to present to you the 8th installment of the Salon podcasts series by Embodiment. It was quite an adventure recording it. With this podcast I wanted to show you a wider perspective of my musical world regarding techno. The set starts with a more intro wise approach and halfway I thought it was time to turn tables and show a more darker and deeper side.

This set is my most personal one because it shows lot of different aspects within techno which I love. I think it is important to expose yourself and be vulnerable at times to make people feel what you want them to feel with your creation. Vulnerability is the core of all emotions and feelings.

I had a lot of fun exploring before recording. I hope you enjoy this podcast as much as I enjoyed recording it!

It has been a year since my first gig, so I would like to use this post as a throwback to Orphic #002. This gig took place on the 16th of June, 2019. I remember being asked by Fred, one of the founders of Orphic, if I would like to DJ at their event. It immediatly felt like I had to do this and it was so surreal to me that they wanted me there.

During the week towards that particular Sunday I felt very nervous and I couldn't remember being that nervous since ages. On the day itself the nervosity almost turned into being too afraid, but I couldn't back down now. I had to do this and so I did.

After the boys of filenotfound were finished it was my turn and as the time went by I got more confident and worked towards a closing track I had in mind since forever. Too bad I only got a short video of this closing track, but atleast I got the feeling people were enjoying and feeling it. A track I won't ever forget thanks to Blawan who played it @ The Crave festival (2018).

Special thanks to Orphic for giving me the opportunity to express myself through music, and to my friends and dancers that day! 🖤

Orphic #005

Yesterday I had the chance to bring it down during prime time. A timeslot I had not played before since my first DJ set. (at Orphic in June)

Starting out with a track from an artist which I truely admire, Function, I immedialty felt a connection with the crowd.

The energy gave me more confidence during my set and I brought a more pounding rolling sound to the dancers.

A big shoutout to all the people involved, all dancers and the Orphic crew!
