Apologies but this one will be long and very personal...
Writing that my hands are shaking...
Who knows me closer then knows that I come from Poland but my roots are from Russia. For pretty much my whole life I didn't know the family from my grandfather's side. It was all very top secret. He didn't say a word about his family for his all life ( for theirs and our protection). But my grandfather was the most amazing person in my life. He is the one ( and the only one ) that is on the photography I carry everywhere with me. He is the one that somehow had the biggest impact on me. He died on my 11th birthday and I know he is all the time with me...
My family was very artistic.. my grandad was an actor in a Moscow theatre.. my mother was incredibly talented manually although tough life in Poland during communism was successively killing it. But it was my parents who were trying to encourage me to expand my artistic passion.. I was drawing, I was playing piano, I was reading and writing poems...At my home I was surrounded by antiques... those furniture saw more then I could imagine. All my life I was surrounded by the old souls.
In my 1st year of photography I found this competition 35awards.. this is an International photography competition based in Russia. I could only dream about entering !
If you are really into photography or simply any aspect of ART then you know that Russia .. well simply.. there is the best art over there ! This competition wasn't any different. The standard is so high. It is tough. The photographs submitted year by year are spectacular. And year after year it is Russian photographers winning it - as a single art submissions and as a country. At the end of last year I entered. This time in the competition took part :
103,069 (!!!) photographers from 160 countries !
They have uploaded over 257 thousand (!!!) photographs.
I have a pleasure not only to be the Winner of the Portrait Category !!!
but also ..
I came on the 2nd place in 100 Best Photographers in the World in Portrait category !!!!
And with this certificate I salute to my grandad with my maiden name
