For the HQ of one of our clients near Amstel station in Amsterdam we are looking for a
kitchen host
The head responsible: A go - to person on location that makes people feel well taken care of.
What will be your working environment?
You will be working in the headquarters of a worldwide software company of 260 and growing. An international bunch that values good food. This company wants to keep it homey and “do it yourself”. The people that work here don’t wear suit and tie, are very approachable and up for a chat.
It’s located in a big office building and has 3 top floors. One with an improv open kitchen area and one with a pantry. The top floor is used for events.
The open kitchen area is where you’ll be most of the time. It’s kind of a meeting place. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks are served on the counter. But there are also coffee machines, fridges with soda and jars with nuts and dried fruit and bowls with hand fruit. You’re literally in the centre of it all.
Your responsibilities as a kitchen host
Serve food:
Day to day you will serve breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks from the kitchen counter. People take their own drinks and all-day snacks and hand fruit from the fridge or pantry. You have help during lunch, with the dishes and if needed for events. It’s your show though; you call the shots.
Prepare snacks:
We prepare all warm lunch in our central kitchen and deliver it every day. For the afternoon snack we deliver components and it’s put together in the kitchen on location. If you like preparing small dishes and have a feeling for health food; this is your thing.
Stock and supply:
Keep the fridges, all day snacks and hand fruit filled up. Register everything that is being used and order from our several suppliers within the budget that we set for you.
Organise:
We expect you to take pride in keeping the kitchen clean and organized according to HACCP standards. There will be someone helping you out with dishes, but you shouldn’t be afraid of the dishwasher or throwing out the garbage. Be as efficient as possible.
Your guests should feel well taken care of.
You make sure the quality of the food is great at all times and that there’s enough. Make your guests feel safe by following a good hygiene plan and making sure all allergies are listed. Make them feel welcome with a chat and a smile.
Conscious about waste:
We separate trash, use as little plastic as possible and try not to throw food away. We’d love to implement more conscious things in the day to day routine.
What we require:
Experience. More than 3 years in a similar hospitality position
Social Hygiene certificate and knowledge of the HACCP code.
Trustworthy with a sense of responsibility. You represent our company on location.
Assertiveness. Someone who can work on their own initiative
Fluent in English, but would be great if you speak Dutch
Representative, easy to talk to. An Open personality.
Availability fulltime 4 or 5 workdays a week from 8 in the morning.
There’s office drinks every Friday, so your Friday will be variable.
Driving license, just in case.
Kitchen-creative.
Knowledge of health food.
Affinity with styling; making things look nice.
Cool as a cucumber when times get tough.
