Help je ons de prachtige historische salonboten van Amsterdam te redden en de hardwerkende kleine reders die dit cultuurgoed in stand houden? Onderteken de petitie!

Als het beleid van de gemeente Amsterdam wordt doorgezet verdwijnen de komende jaren vrijwel alle klassieke/historische boten uit de grachten van Amsterdam. Ondernemers met gezonde bedrijven gaan failliet, personeel belandt op straat en varend erfgoed verdwijnt. Dit kan toch niet de bedoeling zijn!?

A deep bow and goodbye to our beloved mayor, Eberhard van der Laan.

The 4th and the 5th of May are Amsterdam Memorial and Liberationday.

70 years ago in World War II a bridge was made of several ferries over the IJ, so people could go to North to look for food. People walked to Waterland and even to West Friesland. Many didn’t survive this trip. On May 5 this bridge is built again this year.

TASTING LOCAL SPECIAL BEERS next to historic windmill.
If you're in for some really special Amsterdam beers visit 'Brewery 't IJ' in the east of Amsterdam next to a 19th century windmill! Every day between 14.00 and 20.00 locals and tourists find their way to this unique spot where you can taste a variety of traditionally made, locally brewed special beers!

Brewery 't IJ is a great place to relax whether it's raining or the sun is shining. On a nice sunny day however the terrace in front of the brewery is just perfect to enjoy your beer and the weather and maybe if you're lucky 'Johnny and the gangsters of love' ride by to add some live music to this typical Amsterdam hotspot! (see photo).

Many locals take their bike to get to the brewery and it is only about 15 minutes cycling from Central Station or the city center, but you can also get there by public transport, which definitely may be a better idea after a few IJ beers ;-). If you want to go there by public transport, tram 10 or 14 or bus 22 will get you very close to the brewery.
