Today and I went to another Dutch beer brewery. This time it was not far from home, because this brewery is actually the closest to our home. in Hilversum. This brewery was started by two couples who wanted to create a "streek bier" (area beer) for "het Gooi". Now it is run by one of the two couples and Guido. We had a lovely day here at the Gooische Bier Brouwerij and got a wonderful tour and tasting hosted by Aron and Guido. This beer brewery is located in a foodhall. The beers are brewed in the traditional styles and are very very tasty and good quality! Today I was on a mission to try and detect if it was brewed bottom fermentation or top fermentation. The first 5 I got right the last one I was not shure and guest wrong so I'm getting there! I was really impressed by their Grape Ale! Loved it! We also got a bottle from their stout that was matured on barrels from our friend Ian Forteath. So we have something fun to try at home as well. Thanks guys!

This month's flavour maker is this beautiful 12 year old Glenturret. A single malt from the Highlands next to the river "Turret". Bob Dalgarno, Glenturrets master blender has renewed the whole range. This whisky is a tribute to their ethos "By hand and Hart". Glenturret was founded in 1763 and is Scotland's oldest working distillery.

In this whisky you will find flavours of fruitcake, walnuts, ginger, sweet apple and lemon tea.

Happy Valentine's Day♥️!

Today I celebrated Valentine's Day with my love We went for a walk and had a dram of PX I love you! A perfect way to spend this day.

This Irish single malt was matured on ex-bourbon casks and finished on px sherry casks. This gives the whisky notes of vanilla, raisins, dried fruits and brown sugar. Very sweet and fruity. The Whistler whiskey is produced at a family business started by Patrick and Marie Cooney. It was always their dream to create their own Irish whisky and this is exactly what they do now in the Boyne Valley.

12 dagen lang deed ik mee aan the blind whisky tasting competition van Best of Whiskies . 12 buisjes met 12 whisky's waarvan je helemaal niets weet. Elke dag moet je zelf zien te ruiken/proeven hoe oud de whisky is, wat het alcoholpercentage is, uit welke schotse regio het komt én van welke distilleerderij de whisky is. Dankzij Thijs kon ik aan deze competitie meedoen, waarvoor enorme dank! Wat was dit onwijs leuk om te doen! Méga moeilijk. Maar onwijs leuk! Van te voren had ik niet gedacht dat ik een distilleerderij goed zou raden, het zijn er immers zoveel en veel ervan heb ik ook nog nooit geproefd. Het was een ware ontdekkingstocht, ik heb onwijs mooie en lekkere nieuwe whiskys ontdekt en warempel gewoon 2 whisky distilleerderijen goed geraden. Ik ben geëindigd op plek 37 van de internationale 100. Ik ben happy en een beetje trots! Slánte!

WINACTIE!!!

Tomintoul Seiridh. The name of this whisky is gealic for Sherry. This perfectly balanced whisky is matured on ex bourbon casks and finished in Oloroso Sherry butt's from Jerez in Andalusië Spain. I really like this whisky! It is very full with lots of dried fruit noted and almonds.
