Sooo, little recap on the last 2 weekends gigs.....
This time last week I was laying flat on my back in Amsterdam, literally seeing stars, counting down the minutes before I had to make the journey home, never a nice feeling when you're that hungover 🙄

The boat party was truly something special, a private party with a top notch line-up! Everyone played awesome sets that day but I think the birthday boy Oldenburg won best in show, with a pretty unique tune selection, absolutely smashed it! And seeing his 77 years old dad there at the end of the set to give him a proud hug almost brought a tear to my eye lol

The only thing to equal the artists was the crowd! What an amazing bunch of people! I sometimes forget how many friends I've got in NL, but taking Danielle with me and introducing her to everyone kind of put in in to perspective.

I absolutely love all my hardcore family from across the pond, you literally couldn't ask for a better gang to hang out with for the weekend 😊

Then Bristol on Friday, after leaving home late, I had 4 hours to get there, and that is cutting it very fine for a journey this long, but by some miracle, I managed to do it in just over 3 hours! I genuinely felt like Han Solo after he made the castle run in under 12 parsects 😎

Got in there and straight away I'm bumping in to mates from all over the country that I've now known for most of my life, lots of hugs and catching up to do, witch is always nice.
First of of 2 sets was my dnb set as Rogue-Dj and that went off! I love the smaller parties, so much more engagement with the crowd, you feel the vibe a lot more and it definitely gives you a boost, seeing people going nuts to you're sounds!
After me was ButterFist , he's fairly new on the scene and oh my word, he did not disappoint! Quite the opposite, it was quite humbling to then have to come on again after him and hope you're gonna be able to keep the vibe going, but I think me and the old man did OK regardless 😉

It's difficult to try and pin point highlights to gigs and weekends like these as there is to many to chose from? And its not just about the music, it's just as much about the social aspect of it, seeing old friends, making new ones, and generally being in the company of such good people, that's what makes what I do so special, and it's the main driving force behind keeping it going, I simply couldn't imagine just throwing in the towel and not seeing all my weird and wonderful friends again, life would not be the same at all, without these people in it, no matter how infrequent our meetings may be? It's the quality, not quantity ☺️

Hey guys,

It's been a while but I've bin really busy and I'm almost dome with the problem tracks I mentioned in my last post, today I wanna share a short clip with you because I'm super happy with how this has turned out now!

As heart breaking as it was to have to start from the beginning, it was definitely for the better! The tracks were pretty fu**in cool before hand, but now they have definitely moved up a few notches!!

The struggle go's on! Still battling my way through these tracks and it has been a relentless task!!
Just looked up at my kick chain and noticed the last bounce it's kick number 66, now its worth baring in mind this is probably version 3 of the project now to, so f**k knows how many I've made in total now?

Not every single one has been an absolute banger but at least 60% are, but they just don't fit the tracks I'm making them for, this is the difficult bit for me now. Generally for my writing formular, I start with the kick, because it sets the tone, groove and pace of a track, it kind of defines witch direction I'm gonna go with it? But trying to make a new kick, to fit with an existing track, where all sounds, and mix decisions were based on another kick has turned out to be incredibly difficult! That plus the fact I'm just really really fussy about kicks, and trying my level best not to make something that just sounds like something I've done before, that in its self is a challenge!!

I should really take a break from it for a while because I fear I've gone numb to these tracks now, I've probably discarded a few that could have worked, but my ears and my mind just arnt cooperating at times 😒
I guess I just have to persevere now because I really want these done and dusted so I can move on to new music, this stopped bring fun a looooong time ago 😒

Hey guys,
I've been a bit quiet on here as of late, due to being delt a heavy blow when I sent my last tracks off to be mastered!
Basically the kicks were not mono compatible, witch Basically means, they sound great on a full stereo system, but on a rig they don't :(

It's very easy to get carried away with stereo imaging in your tracks, in the studio they will sound awesome!! But given a lot of big sound systems at gigs are predominantly mono, a huge part of your tracks will be inaudible 😒

I've always been aware of mono compatibility, but my understanding of it was way off!! So I've had to go back and remake all the kicks in 4 tracks from scratch, and believe me when I say this, it's no fun at all, after putting that much work and effort in to something, only to have to go back and start again ☹️

I've leant so much in the last few weeks whilst I've been on the correction mission, and I'm gonna do a video explaining where I went wrong, how I've remedied it, and how to avoid it happening to you!!

But for now I'll say this, monitor absolutely everything you make, very closely via as many sources as you can!! Doing sound design without detailed and accurate monitoring, is like driving in the dark with no headlights, your gonna have a nasty accident 😳

So I've been trawling through some old hard drives this morning, and came across a couple of forgotten projects and one of them was a remix of Dolphin & Teknoists - Choir cuts

I started this remix a few years ago but I could never get it to sound right, mainly because my room at the time sounded bad, so it got shelved!
I did play it out once and it sounded cool, but not worthy of release.
Having opened it today in my new room, I could very quickly spot the issues and let me tell you, there is more anomalies in this mix down, that Rishi Sunnaks last tax return lol
