Juliette Siegfried aka Zelda started DJing vinyl in 1998, a late newcomer to the scene at age 31. Within two years, she was playing at iconic events in and near the Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland area such as Buzz @ Nation and The Edge in Southeast DC, Family Affair in OH, and the infamous Skylab in Ocean City, MD. Zelda spun progressive trance until 1999, when, after a first visit to a show by Richie Hawtin, she changed permanently to spinning techno.
Zelda established one of the first ever DJ schools in the nation, Metatrack studios, in Washington DC in 2000. Her experienced DJ friends comprised the staff and offered courses in DJing and music production, as well as private studio rentals for mixtape recording and practicing. When she and her husband decided to move to Europe in 2003, Metatrack studios was closed and they began a new chapter of family, parenting and business ownership. Between 2003 and 2005, Zelda DJed in Madrid with a weekly local bar residency and a fun “rock star” gig in a club in Vigo, Spain.
In 2010 Zelda and her family moved to the Netherlands, where DJing took a back seat to the rest of life. She became a Techno Tour Guide for Amsterdam Techno Lovers and Techno Travelers, Meetup groups with a combined membership of 2300. In small groups, they explore local and international events and welcome newcomers to the techno scene.
