This months score… 4 new Clone releases 🛸 So I had to do a little posing and smiling to show you what I’ve been working on with the team! I usually forget to tell the world about all the preparations of these releases, from both the label and the artists it takes a lot of dedication and persistency…. And once the release is out in the stores it feels like the work has been done... But than the real work begins, telling everyone about the music😅Here I am… I proudly present the long awaited new Exaltics album, the new Alberta Balsam ep, PRZ is dropping some club bangers and Byron the Aquarius comes in strong with some classy deeply rooted house tracks! Oh and lets not forget that Luca Lozano & Egyptian Lover remixes of Masarima from a couple weeks ago… Y’all now how to cop these 💎,right? I remember 1988, sitting in the bus to school listening to my first attempt to a mix tape on my yellow waterproof Sony walkman.
Two girls behind me talked about the strange music they heard coming out of my headphones (no volume limit back in the days 🔊;-) One girl tapped me on my shoulder and asked me what the strange music was? The other girl laughed at me and said “you are listening to bird music, I can hear all the strange birdsounds!” (I could hear her think “you wierdo”)😅 Obviously they never did hear about Armando, Phuture, A Guy Called Gerald, Bam Bam or Tyree Cooper!
I actually bought many of those records from I-f who started importing records from Chicago, and he will join us as Beverly Hills 808303 together with Alienata to share our love for the hypnotizing and alienating sounds from the 303! If you come early you can see Legowelt Music show his beautiful “ambient trip commander” animation movie!

A little weekend video dump… and some thoughts I had while having fun on the ice after finishing my last gig of 2022 yesterday together with Afra!
That was some good old basement vibes… one of those gigs where I could play a couple of the tracks that I carry with me for the right moment… and when that works out its the best feeling and truly inspiring :-) One of the tracks was named “Feiern”, which translates as “Celebrate”. Something I will do in 2023… its the 31st anniversary of Clone Records!!
There will be a massive 31 track compilation album coming out and some beautiful releases are scheduled! This anniversary is probably a good moment to reflect on why we actually do what we do all those years. In 2004 we released a compilation album named “the Men you’ll never see”. In a way that was the ethics of techno and electro in the first decade of our label, the idea that the music does the talking and not the Popstar who was often merely a puppet of the major labels and MTV.
In the decade around 2000 major labels did feed the public with happy hardcore and big room trance music and the first superstar dj’s appeared. However Techno was a counterculture, and the majors and MTV couldnt get a proper grip on it!
In that same year some bloke named Marc Zuckerberg started a website named Facebook and there was the rise of Myspace. In 2005 youtube did start, in 2006 Twitter etc. Social media made the ethics of techno ridicule because all of a sudden almost everyone was visible.
And guess what happened… who took the role of the major labels and MTV?? Who sets the rules and have control on what we see and what we listen to in these days??
Techno hits are now being made on Tiktok…
I had lots of fun in that small smokey basement this weekend. This seems the right moment to quote Inner City’s Big Fun… :-)

Two new releases on my Repetitive Rhythm Research project. A collab between US techno Veteran D-Knox, Hawkins, Surgeon and Sanna Mun and a release by Jodey Kendrick!
Music coming from the sonic minds of these artists expressing their moods and feeling thru their music.
Not afraid of seeking the experiment and exposing the dark corners of their mind instead of just producing the most effective big room satisfaction tools for festival gigs. Needles to say that these releases (and electro/techno in general) are at its best in a proper club environment or a dark basement!

A little summer break for me…. I’m off to Cornwall on a little pelgrimage to find the beaches shown on the cover of Aphex Twin’s Surfing On Sine Waves album! Always wanted to listen to Didgeridoo, Untitled and Quoth at the beaches where they have been played first before they got released and hopefully surf that same wave as on the cover!
Probably not going to be an easy job finding the spots… but at least it keeps me busy during my summer break! 🙂 🤙🏼
