Bringing back memories, Apparently every time I cook seems like I’m trying to bring back memories either for me or for someone. Sometimes very simple dish can lead to a conversation or can take you back to warm memories. Yesterday, my parents were visiting me and in the evening we sat to eat very simple Iraqi dish (Fasoulia; white beans). Usually I don’t expect complements about my Iraqi cooking skills from my mom, but yesterday and for the first time my mom said ‘this taste exactly like the way I used to eat it in Baghdad vendors’. First, I felt very happy and proud to hear that but I’m also happy that I made my mom happy by bringing her back these memories. This kind of happing increase my confidence in creating or bringing back good memories by cooking tasty authentic dishes.
