Historic Alpine World Championship to Norway🤩

Ready for a spectacular championship in Narvik in 2029. The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has awarded the Alpine World Championship 2029 to the Norwegian Ski Federation (NSF) and the municipality of Narvik.

"This is a great day for Norwegian skiing, and thanks to everyone who has contributed to bringing the Alpine World Championship to Norway. The Alpine World Championship is one of the world's largest sporting events and is watched by TV viewers across much of the world. Norway has for decades distinguished itself as one of the world's best alpine nations, and finally, we will experience a World Championship on home ground," says ski president Tove Moe Dyrhaug.

We are finally in Reykjavik for the 55th International Ski Congress, where the host for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2029 will be decided!

We have a whole delegation from Norway with us, including three former sports stars presenting our bid.✨

With their impressive careers, they know Narvik and Norway are the perfect fit for a World Championship.

The decision will be announced tonight! Let’s cheer for Norway!!🇳🇴

This weekend, our partner, Sparebanken Narvik, in collaboration with Narvik Slalomklubb, organized the annual Sparebanken Narvik Alpine Cup 2024. ⛷

A total of 184 talented young alpine skiers participated. Despite challenging weather conditions at times, the event was a big success, showcasing the talent and passion of the next generation of skiers. 😍

Det hele startet allerede i april 2016. Sist uke presenterte Narvik VM-søknaden for Det internasjonale Ski- og Snøbrettforbundet (FIS) om retten til å arrangere alpin-VM 2029.

I dag, 5. desember er det FNs internasjonale dag for frivillighet 🤩 Vi retter derfor en stor og varm alpintakk til dere alle som stiller opp og bidrar med flere hundretalls av dugnadstimer, slik at Narvik, Nord-Norge og Norge kan gjøre seg bemerket og være en god arrangør av alpine mesterskap, både på regionalt, nasjonalt og internasjonalt nivå.
