The third round of the 2022-23 Hydro Thunder Series kicks off at Lake Taupo based in front of the Taupo Yacht Club.
Racing both Friday and Saturday
This season we have a field of 10 plus Grand Prix Hydroplanes from all over New Zealand.

Only four days till we race again on Lake Taupo, the weather conditions are looking good for both days, this year we did apply to run later in the day with the new layout on the Taupo Waterfront there will be plenty of people around to enjoy the racing. If you haven’t already entered please email [email protected] we have racing for all classes if you don’t have the numbers then we will put you in one of the mixed racing classes please note briefing Friday is 11am.

Who’s keen to see Tiger back on the water this Friday and Saturday
in Taupo?
Well it back, but this time in the Grand National class with a NA 468ci big chief headed BBC.
Jeff Weake will be at the wheel, you may remember Jeff as the guy on the start boat, which he has done for a number of years and he has raced a ski race boat named Force Fed.
The Grand National class is a class growing in numbers with Miss Aberdeen, Hang On, Aquanaut, Liv’n the Fastlane, Terminator, Obsessed, Renegade, Tamatea, Phantom to name a few looking to join Tiger at a event soon.
