Somehow I've gotten on the shortlist for Best MC at the NZ Wedding Vendor Awards 🙃

As yet, I've done nothing about garnering votes as I feel a wee bit awkward asking people to do so for me. But here is my wee bit awkward ask that if you - and you don't have to be linked to me in a wedding capacity, it can be in any shape or form - have a spare minute-and-a-half to submit my name through in a vote, I would SO appreciate it so I don't come through with zero 🫠

YOGA: right, took a sudden pause on proceedings for Fordy to have an always-known operation, but now we're home and he's thriving even more than before, yoga is coming BACK!

Currently figuring out which classes to start up again; if you're an o.g and were with me before I went on maternity leave, I have contacted you directly, but for anyone interested in maybe joining the hOMe Zen Den crew, please private message me, we can chat and see if it aligns!

Photo of the kiddies and I rather than something yoga-related as A) I am currently a tin man and, B) finding a moment to take a pose pic the last few days hasn't happened because, mum life

Back to it 💍

A smaller season this year: only officiating just over half my usual number of ceremonies with the arrival of my beautiful boy 💙

While I've always strugggggggled leaving my babies, it's nice - and good for me - to go have a few hours being my pre-mummy self; put my head completely into a wedding and come home fresh. As always, extremely grateful for what I do 🫶🫶

Our wee man is here - Ford James Gough 💙. August 30, 9.41am.

Quite the iconic arrival: Fordy was born in the front seat of my car, pulled over just off the expressway, his head delivered by my husband. Although a sensational entrance, his birth was so beautiful and calm - I'd put a lot of heart into hypnobirthing leading up to the day, and it truly shone through at go time.

I've been open about this on my private page, but not in my public business one: our wee man has Down Syndrome, or Trisomy 21. This year has had quite a few hideous moments (the deep grooves in my forehead illustrate the journey), times of true heartache and despair, but Fordy overcame a number of conditions and challenges to make it here to be our boy. As soon as he was in my arms I was filled with an innate sense of peace, and all the concerns and apprehensions that have been engulfing me at times these last few months completely dissipated.

Any situation in life has lights in it, and the time leading up to August 30 taught me to trust the process, be in the now, release all fear. And it's so overwhelmingly apparent that this boy is well and truly meant to be ours - the pride and love we hold for him already is immense, and only going to grow. We're under no illusions there will be times of challenge, but the joy this kid is giving at only a week old surpasses anything that may come alongside it.

Fordy G, you are astoundingly extraordinary. 💫

As of 12.30pm, officially on maternity leave! Went out on a week of my usual 8 yoga classes, with weddings both yesterday and today. 💙

Time for a week, two, maybe three, to rest, nest and practice some breath 🫶

Some photos from the last few days working, including three original Evie outfits (PS: hadn't been on the bike in the tutu one).

Ten years ago since the trip that changed the direction of my life 💗

Solo to India for a month in an ashram completing my first Yoga Teachers' Training Course (first foray into yoga ever - didn't even know what a downward dog was!!), then onto Nepal to climb to Everest Base Camp. The time where I finally faced that I'd developed some pretty deep issues with disordered eating, and although it was a fair few years until I was truly on top of it, where it all began to get better.

That me was so gutsy, naive and completely following a gut instinct to do stuff that catapulted me out of my comfort zone to find where I feel most comfortable. I'm so grateful to my decade-ago self for finding my way 🫶.

One more wedding then the 24/25 season complete! 50 weddings, one funeral, a whole lot of beautiful people 🫶. A collection of photos captured throughout.

This season also involved a pretty tumultuous trimester two of a tough wee boy in my tummy. Weddings during this time of limbo were such a blessing, especially those in March and April - it was so relieving to go and put my head into something so happy and joyful for an hour. Likewise with teaching yoga; that grounding settled some moments of spiralling. (I also learnt I have a very gnarly game face when it's go time).

Forever thankful for the jobs I do - you can hardly call it "work" when you love it this much. 💗

Ten years as a celebrant! 💗

Congratulations Aroha & Aaron - a decade deep today 🥂20/3/2015

Incredible how much has changed in that time; learnt lots, changed LOTS, and still fizz at the honour whenever anyone asks me to do their wedding. Officiated for some of my best friends, people that have become friends, my brother, some cousins, people I went to school with - primary and both high schools - and just met some phenomenal others along the way. Very, very blessed to adore what I do 🫶
