Blue Spur Farmstay & Crooked Mile Cottage, Hokitika We run an authentic New Zealand farmstay experience in Hokitika on the stunning wild West Coast. Stay Welcome to Blue Spur Farmstay and wedding venue.

Come and stay with us in our large farmhouse situated on 75acres up the Arahura Valley, minutes from the Arahura River. 5mins drive to the beach & 10mins from the town centre. Feed the many farm animals, relax and take in the views of the farm & bush and sea. If you are after peace and quiet and enjoy the tranquility of being in the country then this is the place for you. Guests can spend time in

the paddocks with the good natured stock and feed the pigs and birds anytime.
** Our house is completely off-grid. All our power comes from a solar panel array. All our water is rainwater collected from the roof. Many of the features in the house are from building recyclers. We also offer a our farm as an affordable, private wedding venue for up to 100 guests. There are multiple site options with amazing views. There is a rustic outdoor covered bar area with campfire. Bridal preparation rooms and we can offer some cool, rustic props as well. Contact us to discuss your special day.

Kia ora! Meet the newest members of the family at Blue Spur Farmstay.
Carlos and George came from just up the road. Their mum is off on new exciting adventures so the boys now live with us!
They have fitted in with the the flock of Arapawa sheep perfectly. Such great characters. Really friendly and curious.
Can't wait for you all to meet them.

It's a stunner of a summer here in Hokitika! 30°c . The sea is lovely and warm to swim in. 🏊‍♀️ The sunsets have been beautiful too.

Making great memories at Blue Spur Farmstay. Our annual end of year celebration and feast with our neighbours and friends was such good fun. The weather was stunning, the food was delicious and the company was fun. We finished the evening off with toasted marshmallows and star gazing. ☪️

After days of rain, Mother Nature finally delivered—this rainbow over the Arahura Valley was worth the wait! 🌈✨ Sometimes you’ve got to wade through puddles to find the pot of gold...or in our case, some epic farm views from the window! 🐑🌿

We have a lot of rata growing on the edges of our large stands of native bush here at Blue Spur Farmstay.
Scarlet rātā is one of the better-known species of rātā vines, because it flowers in autumn or winter, and is often highly visible on well-lit host trees along forest roads, with vibrant displays of large red flowers (sometimes orange or yellow) that rise above the forest canopy.

Summer on the farm = haymaking.
This hay will feed our animals throughout the winter when grass growth is minimal.
These hay bales where probably the heaviest I've ever tried to lift. Too heavy for me to pick up and throw on the trailer. I opted to be the driver. Work smarter not harder right! 😆

The Southern Cross above our private campsite in Hokitika. What could be better than sitting around a campfire stargazing in complete privacy.
No other campers around!
Toast your marshmallows, construct your s'mores just the way you like them. Enjoy the beautiful views out over the farm to the sea.

This little upcycled glasshouse is putting out the goods. I'm fighting with the aphids and a bit of whitefly but still managing to get some delicious veggies for the dinner table.
We don't buy many vegetables from the supermarket now which is pretty cool especially since they are so expensive here in Hokitika.
Yellow cherry tomatoes, cauliflower, cabbage, strawberries, cucumber, heirloom tomatoes, loads of lettuce and broccoli, garlic, spring onions and beetroot....more to come.
