5 Easy Swaps for a Plastic-Free Party

1. Ditch plastic loot bags – try fabric bags

2. Use reusable plates instead of disposable.

3. Swap balloons for reusable bunting

4. Borrow decorations (or hire!) instead of buying new. It'll also save you time and cost of travel.

5. Choose homemade treats in reusable containers or, if you're short on time and feel you must buy party food, choose larger packaging e.g. a large packet of chips instead of individual packets or a large bottle of juice instead of individual juice boxes etc. Guests can choose how much they want of something therefore less food waste too. Have you considered asking some guests to bring a plate of homemade treats?

The new arrival! A beautiful bouncing baby shower kit! This one I've been wanting to create for a while and when a lovely expectant mama asked for help, I was only to happy to oblige!

This kit is great for gender reveals but also for those rare mamas out there who like to do it the old fashion way and find out on the day!

And the key comments from that mama 'it was easy to set up", 'it just made organising so much easier", "adorable", 'just what we were after".

This kit is for up to 30 people and includes:

Baby blocks
Flag bunting
Side plates and stemless wine glasses (30 people)
Vases of flowers
Curtain flowers and extra bouquets of flowers
Backdrop stand

The request was mermaid theme so what better place to go then a swimming complex!
What we did:
Went straight after school
Picnic outside
Swam in the main pool until the Hydroslide opened. Tip: let the kids know which area you want them to stay in so you can keep an eye on them. Note: ratio is 1 adult to 4 kids.
Hydroslide and those who didn't want to go on the Hydroslide went in the water play station so everyone was reasonably together.
Cake 10-15mins before the end.

How was it sustainable?
No paper invitations
No individual packets of snacks (except the coin and lolly jewelry in the goody bags)
Made biscuits, carrot sticks, oranges and apple wedges and pizza
Water bottle with cups
Containers to take left over food home in
Cupcakes made in silicone cases

Goody bags:
My child made rocks for each of her guests
Bouncy balls
Hair scrunchies
I created those bookmarks which got so many 'oooo that's a great idea' comments
A lolly bracelet and a gold coin (treasure for our mermaid theme)
A named party bag that can now be used as a toy/shell/card/mini book/tooth fairy/small gift bag

I love this market! So many cool things to see and fascinating things to discover or learn about. There's giveaways and foodie treats let alone the sustainable good stuff to check out and take home.

I'll be bringing along some exclusive gift bags, neat bunting, kids wands, wooden dough stamps (I dare you to sniff them... Mmmmmm), pass the parcel and party bags 😁
